Chapter Fifty Eight

Iris’s P.O.V
After finding out what Slughorn had been hiding and trying to forget, we began to talk about it with Dumbledore, “sir.” Harry said before he raised a hand at Harry before he walked over to the steps and sat down, “this is beyond anything I imagined.” he told us, “did you mean to say that he succeeded sir?” Harry asked him, “that he really did all of that? Killed an innocent person just to make a Horcrux?” I asked him, “oh yes, he succeeded alright and not just once.” he told us, “what are they exactly?” Harry asked him, “it could be anything. The most common place of objects. A ring for example or a book.” he told us, “Tom Riddle’s diary.” Harry mentioned, “it’s a Horcrux yes. Four years ago when the both of you saved Ginny Weasley’s life in the Chamber of Secrets, the both of you brought me this. I knew then this was a different kind of Magic. Very dark, very powerful but until tonight I had no Idea just how Powerful.” Dumbledore told us, “and the ring?” I asked him, “belonged to Voldemort’s Mother. Difficult to find, even more difficult to destroy.” he said as he should what happened to his hand, “but if you could find more. If you did destroy each Horcrux-” Harry began to say, “one destroys Voldemort.” Dumbledore said, “making him weak and vulnerable.” I said to them, “correct.” Dumbledore said, “how would you find them? They could be hidden anywhere, couldn't they?” Harry asked, “true, but Magic, especially Dark Magic-” Dumbledore began to say and as soon as Harry touched the ring, something happened when I began to see images flash through my head before  rubbed my scar as it stung a little after that happened before hearing him continue, “leaves traces.” he finished as he looked at the both of us, “it’s where you’ve been going isn’t it sir? When you leave the school?” Harry asked him, “yes and I think perhaps I may have found another and this time, I can’t hope to destroy it alone. Once again, I must ask too much of the both of you, Harry and Iris. I need your help in destroying this next Horcrux.” dumbledore said to us and Harry and I just looked at each other before he spoke up, “we’ll do it.” he said to him before he let us leave the room and as soon as we walked out of Dumbledore’s office, I felt Harry grab my arm, causing me to turn around, “what is it?” I asked him, “I know you hate me for what happened and I will understand if you wont accept my apology but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for what happened. I didn’t mean for the spell to hit you.” he said to me, “so you meant to hit Draco?” I asked him and he just nodded, “you have to stop being this way to each other whether or not you guys are friends or enemies. Please at least tolerate each other for me.” I said to him, “I’ll try.” he said to me, “don’t try, do. But since you are my brother, I will forgive you but if you do something like this again, especially to Draco, I don’t know if I could do it a second time.” I said to him, “I understand.” He said to me before I Hugged him, “we need to stick together so we need to stop fighting otherwise we will never get through this.” I said to him as he hugged me back, “I agree.” he said before we moved away from the hug and I eventually made it back to the Common Room for the night.

By the time I made it back to the Common Room that night, I started looking around for Draco before I went to check his room before seeing him sitting on his bed and I went to sit down next to him, “how are you holding up?” I asked him, “could be better. I just want all of this to be over already.” he said to me, “I’m sure you’re not the only one feeling that way.” I told him, “I’m glad you’re alright though. I thought I lost you for a second there.” he said to me before he kissed my hand and the both of us just sat together before he brought up what Harry wanted, “so what did your brother want to talk to you about?” he asked me, “Dumbledore wanted to see the both of us. After talking with Dumbledore, he apologized for what had happened the other day in the bathroom.” I told him, “and did you forgive him?” he asked me and I nodded, “yeah, I did.” I told him, “I would be surprised if you didn’t” he said to me, “me to actually. But considering what’s going on right now, I think it’s best to forgive him and we need each other to be there if something goes south.” I told him, “Sounds reasonable” he said and the both of us chuckled a little and the both of us continued to talk and hang out together before the both of us had eventually gone to bed later that night. It was another day and both Harry and I had gone to go and see Dumbledore as he wanted us to meet him at the Astronomy Tower and just as we were walking up the stairs, we heard Snape talking with him before someone walked towards us before seeing that it was Snape before I got out of the way before he walked by and both Harry and I made it up the stairs and walked up to Dumbledore before he noticed us, “oh Harry, Iris. you need a shave my friend and your hair is getting rather long.” he said to Harry and I, “I suppose it could use a trim.” I said to him, “you know at times, I forget how much the both of you have grown. At times I still see the small twins from the cupboard. Forgive me Harry and Iris, I’m an old man.” he said to us, “you still look the same to me Professor.” Harry told him, “I think you haven’t changed a bit.” I told him, “just like your mother, the both of you are unfailingly kind. A trait people never fail to undervalue I’m afraid.the place to which we journey tonight is extremely dangerous. I promised the both of you could accompany me and I stand by that promise. But there is one condition, the both of you must obey every command I give you without question.” he said to us, “yes sir.” Harry and I said to him, “Do you both understand what I’m saying?” he asked us and we nodded, “should I tell you to hide, you hide. Should I tell you to run, you run. Should I tell you to abandon me and save yourselves, you must do so. Your word Harry and Iris.” he said to us, “my word.” Harry said, “I don’t like where this is going but you have my word.” I said to him, “take my arm.” he said to us, “sir, I thought you couldn’t Apparate within Hogwarts.” Harry said to him, “Well, being me has its privileges.” Dumbledore said to him, “so technically, he doesn’t really have to follow the rules.” I said to Harry and we Apparated as soon as we grabbed onto Dumbledore’s arm.

By the time we got to where we needed to be, the three of us managed to stand on a rock before we managed to make it into the cave and we walked through it before hearing Dumbldore speak up, “this is the place. This place has known Magic.” he said before we noticed he had something sharp in his hand and cut his other hand, “sir.” both Harry and I said to him, “to gain passage, payment must be made. Payment intended to weaken any intruder.” Dumbledore said to us, “you should have let one of us sir” Harry told him, “oh, no Harry yours and Iris’ blood is much more precious than mine.” Dumbledore said before he ran his hand over the stone wall before something began to happen before an entryway appeared, “Voldemort would not have made it easy to discover his hiding place. He will put certain defenses in position.” Dumbledore told us before he eventually made a part of his light float through the cave before it found something as it got brighter, “there it is. The only question is how do we get there.” Dumbledore said to us before he managed to do something and a chain shot from the water causing Dumbledore to catch it, “if you would Harry.” he said as he gave Harry the chain before I helped him pull something from the water before seeing a boat appear as we brought it closer before the three of us eventually got on it before we made our way to where the light was and by the time we got there and got off the boat, “do you think the Horcrux is in there sir?” Harry asked him, “it has to be right.” I said to them, “yes. It has to be drunk, all of it has to be drunk. You remember the conditions on which I brought the both of you with me? this potion will paralyze me. I may forget why I’m here. It might cause me so much pain that I’ll beg for relief. You both are not to indulge in these requests. It is your job to make sure that I keep drinking this potion, even if you have to force it down my throat, understood.” he Dumbledore said to us, “why can’t either of us drink it?” Harry asked him, “because I’m much older. Much cleverer and much less valuable. You're in good health Harry and Iris.” he said to us as he grabbed the shell and started drinking the Potion and he soon began to struggle and Harry helped him with it as Dumbledore begged him to stop before they finally made it to the bottom before seeing a necklace, “you did it sir.” Harry said as he took it before he managed to fill the bowl with water but he wasn’t able to scoop any of it up, “try that water.” I said to him before he went over to the water that surrounded us and tried to do the same thing before the light went into the water, “Harry, I’m starting to second guess what I said.” I said to him but he continued before something grabbed his arm and I tried pulling him back before whatever had ahold of him let go before more came to the surface before the both of us started attacking them before there were too many of them and the both of us were soon pulled into the water and something grabbed onto the both of us and I struggled to make it back to the surface before something began to happen on the surface before something managed to hit whatever was holding onto Harry and myself before we swam back and as soon as we made it to the surface, fire had surrounded us before the both of us managed to make it back to Dumbledore before we got back on the boat as Dumbledore made a pathway through the fire before we made it back to where we came in and Apparated back to the Castle.
