○Prologue

• It was sunny, too sunny, it made his eyes hurt, and his mouth dry. His arms felt weak, legs tired. It was a common reaction when he was exposed to the star's golden rays, nothing new. The thing that was new, however, was a little insect with gossamer wings, pretty, white gossamer wings that captivated him. He wouldn't say he was too easily distracted, but when one is bored anything could serve as a muse. His head was resting on his pale knuckle, the sunlight streaming through the window hitting him square in the face. The little insect's wings fluttered gently as it came closer. He held out his hand, it perched itself easily on his finger. "Hmmm, who are you?" His breath came out breezily as he voiced his curiosity. Alnirŕ could smell the magic, taste it in the air as he held it closer.

"Gandalf" It whispered, and Alnirŕ felt lightning bolt up his spine.

●•◇•●

Feet thudded against the oak stairs steps quickly, moving at incredible speed. To light to be a humans, to light to even be an elf's. Hastily Alnirŕ made it to the kitchen.

"Someone's in a hurry" Beorn's voice rang out loud, boisterous, making his presence well known.

"Yes well, Gandalf calls" Alnirŕ smiled softly, eyes fond as he looked at his friend. Beorn was surprised "Gandalf? Then I guess you'd better be on your way" he was surprised but as usual brushed it off. "What did he say?" Beorn was also, curious. "That you should maybe expect visitors" Alnirŕ's answer seemed to get brushed off easily aswell. "I'll be deciding that" he muttered as he continued to prepare his food.

Alnirŕ's pack was heavy, as he rested his hand on the doorways supporting beams, he couldn't help but glance back. "You'll be fine until I return?"

"I have been for years my friend" Beorn probably felt his hesitance as he lumbered over. Alnirŕ expected the hug, yet he still couldn't help the tingles running down his arms. He wasn't used to affection.

Beorn's smell was like oak branches that had been left in the rain, maybe even a little wet fur. It was familiar. Alnirŕ had been living with Beorn for years, which for him, was an achievement. He struggled with staying in one place for too long.
Gandalf's quest was a welcomed reprieve.

"Goodbye, enjoy your journey" Beorn was even more awkward when it came down to affection, yet Alnirŕ, was accustomed to it. As he took his first step out into the welcoming crisp air, foot crushing the grass beneath him, sunlight pouring onto his figure, he couldn't help but feel the rush of excitement that an adventure always brought.
