Calm Yourself With Verses

Psalm 143
NLT
A psalm of David.
1 Hear my prayer, O Lord;
    listen to my plea!
    Answer me because you are faithful and righteous.
2 Don’t put your servant on trial,
    for no one is innocent before you.
3 My enemy has chased me.
    He has knocked me to the ground
    and forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave.4 I am losing all hope;
    I am paralyzed with fear.
5 I remember the days of old.
    I ponder all your great works
    and think about what you have done.
6 I lift my hands to you in prayer.
    I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. Interlude

7 Come quickly, Lord, and answer me,
    for my depression deepens.
Don’t turn away from me,
    or I will die.8 Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning,
    for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk,
    for I give myself to you.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord;
    I run to you to hide me.
10 Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
    on a firm footing.
11 For the glory of your name, O Lord, preserve my life.
    Because of your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress.
12 In your unfailing love, silence all my enemiesand destroy all my foes,
    for I am your servant.

We face different scenarios that give us stress or feel like weights on our shoulders. Like the psalmist I want to encourage us that we can find joy in the word of God.

For this, I challenge you to make at least 2 cards where you'll write down bible verses that always calm you down. If you don't know any verses you can search for verses that help with stress and worry. I want you to care about these verses with you

If you are prone to overthinking, and feeling anxious at night I would suggest you keep these verses near you at night. Read them over and over again. Before you read them I would challenge you to pray, ask God to speak to you through His word and calm your heart. Once you are done praying you can play worship music. After praying and reading the verses I want you to declare these verses over your life.

An example. Let's say I take the verse from Matthew 6 that says do not worry for your heavenly Father knows you knew these things (gerse). I can ask God to help me not worry because I know He knows my needs, He knows me. I will whisper or play a song that speaks about God's care.

Then finally I declare this verse.

"Lord, I believe you'll take care of my needs. In my life, my needs will be taken care of in Jesus' name. For I have a God who cares for me. Therefore no harm will be done to me..."

Then you can go to sleep or during the day continue what you do. Repeat this process throughout the week and see how by the end of the week your heart has changed.

Remember this is how it will go:
Get verses that comfort you
- Pray
- Worship
- Declare

Comment below some of your favourite verses that comfort and help you whenever you feel stressed or feel under pressure like the psalmist (:
