Turning around, my mother in law came walking over to me.
"Unfortunately." I sighed. "I don't know what's taking him so long."
August and I were suppose to have left the house ten minutes ago. With today being my birthday, he had something planned but for some reason he was taking long to come down stairs.
"Aug are you ready?" I called up the stairs.
"Did he forget something?" His mother asked.
"I don't know." I shrugged, then checked the time.
As I was about to call him again, I heard his voice.
"Babe I can explain."
Instantly becoming annoyed, he came walking down the stairs with Naima wide awake.
"Why did you wake her?"
"I went ta kiss her and as soon as I pulled away she woke up."
Sighing I took her from him. This was the last thing I wanted to happen. As much as I hated being away from her, she acts up more when we leave her.
"Y'all still here?" My grandmother then came asking.
"Yes because genius over there woke her up." I huffed trying to put her back to sleep.
"It wasn't intentional okay. Plus momma or maw can put her back to sleep." He spoke from behind me.
Hearing Naima giggle, I turned to see him making faces at her.
"Seriously?" I said annoyed. "You see me trying to put her to sleep and that's what you're doing."
"I couldn't help it. She was staring at me."
"Shut up!" I rolled my eyes. "Mom can you take her for me?" I asksd his mother.
Just as I suspected, she began to cry when she was taken from my arms. This was why I didn't want her to be awake when we were leaving.
"Y'all go ahead. We have her."
Sighing, I kissed her and Aug followed. Being the daddy's girl she is, she gripped onto his facial hair as he was parting from her.
"Let go sweet pea." He said in pain.
"Little girl behave!"
Prying her hands away, Aug stepped back as she cried harder, reaching out for us.
"Y'all go on, don't worry about her. I got it!"
"Later momma." Aug then said as we left.
"So you gonna be mad at me all day?"
"I'm not mad at you Aug but you know how I feel about leaving her."
"I know and I didn't mean to wake her."
"I know you didn't." I sighed.
Fixing myself in the car seat, I went back to looking out the window as we drove. I didn't know where he was taking us but it didn't matter. All I thought about was Naima and how red she began to turn from crying.

"This is nice." I smiled as I walked into the room.
"And looks relaxing too." He said looking around.
