Aella groaned internally as she curled up on the small couch, arms wrapped around herself as she tried to focus on the TV. She'd only recently woke up, and her shift was starting in a few hours.
Her phone rang from behind her, grabbing her attention as she stood up with a groan and grabbed it, pressing it to her ear. "Hello?" She asked, clearing her throat.
"Hey Aella." Mike greets. It sounds like he's shuffling something around on the other line, then there's a burst of laughter coming from multiple kids.
"Hey Mike. What's up?" She asks with a sniffle, leaning against her wall. "I'm really sorry, this is probably so annoying, but— could you pick up Abby from school?" Mike asks. "I've been grocery shopping and it completely slipped my mind." He shrugs.
"No problem," Aella nods as if he could see her. "Do you think you'll be back before we get there?" She asks, looking behind her. "Uhm.. maybe. I'm hoping so. If not, could you heat up the sliders in the fridge?" He notes. Aella hums in agreement.
"Okay. Thanks for calling." Aella smiles. Mike goes quiet for a few seconds and Aella thinks he hang up. "Thank you." He whispers before hanging his side up. She stuffs down a laugh and hangs up as well, sliding her sneakers on.
