Sarada's POV:

I'd waited until dark to sneak out of my bedroom. I packed ninja tools, some money, and a few essentials into a bag, ensuring I had everything I might need.

My heart raced with every step toward the door, praying that it wouldn't creak and wake Mom up.

Just as I reached the outskirts of the village, a voice sliced through the quiet, catching me off guard. "You're looking for Boruto, aren't you?"

"Mitsuki?" I whispered, my surprise evident
I stopped in my tracks, suprised by his sudden appearance. "What are you doing here?" I hesitated, unsure how to react.

"I could ask you the same thing, Sarada."

Damn it

"What does it matter to you?" I questioned, my frustration evident.

"I can't believe you're still defending Boruto," he remarked, his voice tinged with disbelief. Mitsuki's disappointment pierced through me.

Seriously, what's the deal with everyone bringing him up all the fucking time today?

"I'm not defending-" He cuts me off.

"Cut it out, Sarada. I know you want to look for him," he said, his voice sharp.

"You want a prize for that? Let's be real, Mitsuki. The village has been desperate to find him for three years, and they always fail. I might as well search for him myself."

"But you don't want to bring him to the village, nor do you want to fight him, am I right?" Mitsuki asked.

I hesitated. The more I think about it, the more I question: What would I actually do when I find him? He definitely doesn't want to see me, that's for sure.

Mitsuki's gaze remained steady, his tone firm. "Look, Sarada, I get it, you miss him. But heading out alone, especially for him, it's risky. You understand that, right?"

"I can handle myself," I snapped.

"Of course, you can," Mitsuki agreed, nodding slowly. "But it's not just about that. What's your plan if you find him? He's made it clear he doesn't want to be found."

"I don't know, alright? I just... I need to figure things out."

Mitsuki sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Sarada, I'm not worried about your abilities. I'm worried about what finding him might do to you, which is why I'll come with you."

Surprise flickered across my face. "What? Why?"

"Because I don't want you to do something stupid." Mitsuki replied firmly. "And because I'm your friend, even if we're barely speaking with each other."

I hesitated,"Fine, but don't expect me to change my mind."

Mitsuki nodded, a faint smile touching his lips. "I wouldn't expect anything less stubborn from you, Sarada."

---

The night air felt cool against our skin as we walked, the only sounds our footsteps crunching softly on the dirt path.

"Are you sure about this, Mitsuki?" I asked, breaking the silence between us.

"I am," he replied firmly. "I don't want you getting into trouble alone. But I can't promise you that I will try not to fight Boruto."

"I just hope it doesn't come to that."

As we continued walking, the night grew darker around us. Glancing at Mitsuki, I asked, "Why are you coming with me to help find Boruto, despite what he did?" I asked, curiosity lacing my voice.

"I'm coming with you because I don't want you doing anything reckless, Sarada. I'm doing this for you, not for him."

We walked in silence for a while longer until the landscape began to change, moving from dense forest to an empty, desolate area. The air grew tense, and an eerie feeling settled in the pit of my stomach.

"Do you even know where to go?" Mitsuki asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

I shook my head. "No, but there's a village near by. We can ask around if anyone's seen Boruto."Mitsuki nodded in agreement.

The village appeared silent, with dimly lit houses casting eerie shadows on the deserted streets. As we wandered through the narrow alleys, I noticed curtains twitching occasionally, signifying someone was awake.

Mitsuki and I exchanged glances, since  most villagers hurried away, their expressions fraught with fear when we mentioned Boruto.

Confused, I approached an elderly woman. "Excuse me, ma'am," I began, trying to sound as non-threatening as possible. "Have you seen a young man named Boruto around here? He has blonde Hair and a scar on his left eye."

To our surprise, she didn't shy away. Instead, she smiled warmly. "Ah, young travelers seeking Boruto, are you? Come inside, I have tea brewing."

Cautiously intrigued, we followed her into the small house adorned with various trinkets and ancient scrolls. The woman gestured for us to sit at a low table, pouring steaming tea into three cups.

"Now, what brings you seeking the young boy?" she inquired, her eyes glinting with a mix of wisdom and curiosity.

"We...I'm his friend," I explained, "and I'm worried about him, which is why I want to find him. But everyone seems scared when we mention his name. Yes, he may have killed a Hokage but-"

"I don't know what or who a Hokage is, but the village has its reasons, child. Boruto is not just any ordinary boy. His fate intertwines with something far greater." The woman nodded knowingly.

"Greater? What do you mean?" Mitsuki asked, leaning forward, clearly intrigued.

She paused, sipping her tea thoughtfully before continuing. "There's an old prophecy spoken of in these lands—a prophecy about a chosen one, a harbinger of change. Boruto is believed to be connected to it."

"Connected to a prophecy?" I asked.

"Yes," she confirmed. "But not everyone believes in it. Some fear what it might mean for our world. That's why they avoid him."

Mitsuki exchanged a glance with me, both of us trying to understand what this prophecy meant.

"Can you tell us more about this prophecy?" Mitsuki asked, his voice curious.

"I can only tell you so much," she replied cryptically. "But know this, young ones, the path Boruto treads is entwined with both darkness and hope. He'll face trials that will test his resolve, and his choices will shape the destiny of our world."
