Adrien's POV: 3rd person

"U- uh, h- hello f-" she began but was cut off.

"Who is he?" the man said with a cold voice.

"A-a f-fri-end, f-father," the blunette stuttered out.

"He better be out before dinner," he replied in a harsh voice.

"A- Actually... I thought he c- could maybe... possibly... by cha-" the tall man cut her off.

"This is not how I raised you!!" he shouted.

"Oh, puh-lease!" a high-pitched voice yelled. The trio swiftly turned their heads to see a blonde with blue eyes standing in the living room. "You never raised her, Thomas!"

"Who permits you to address me by my first name, young lady?!?"

"No one needs to give me permission to call an outsider by their name," she said while glaring at the man.

"C- Chloe, I d- don't think you s- shou-"

"Marinette, are you afraid of this man?!?" the blonde screamed.

"W- well I-"

"Why wouldn't she be?!?" a deep voice exclaimed. The four turned towards the staircase leading to Marinette's bedroom and saw a boy who was around their age. He had blue eyes and chocolate brown hair.

"W- what are you doing here?" Marinette questioned, "A- aren't you supposed to be in New York?"

"I wanted to surprise you," the male said. "Now... as I was saying... WHY SHOULDN'T SHE?!?"

"Because he isn't worth being scared off!!"

"You should meet him when he's drunk," Marinette whispered.

"What was that?" Adrien asked.

"N- nothing."

"Are you sure?"

"Y- yeah."

"Well... since you don't like it when I call you Thomas...." Chloe smirked, "I'll call you... a Cheater or even better, an Abuser."

"I never meant to hurt her!" Thomas exclaimed, in a desperate attempt to save himself from more pain.

"Then why did you do it?"

"Well, I just I uh-"

"That's what I thought," the blonde smirked.

"Uh, Chlo, maybe that was a little uh too..." Marinette started.

"Harsh?" the blonde finished. "Yeah, but it doesn't change the fact that it's true."

"She had a point, Mari," the mystery guy said.

"B- but....."

"But nothing, Marinette, she's only stating the truth," the guy shrugged.

"I uh... I really have no say in this, but if he had nothing to do with your upbringing and he also cheated and abused someone th- then maybe she does have... a point," Adrien said, fading at the end because of the glare Marinette sent his way.

"So now you pay attention," she whispered under her breath. Unfortunately for her, Adrien heard it. "I pay attention all the time, thank you very much," he protested.

"Great, now he's not deaf," she muttered.

"Marinette, I was never deaf, and I always pay attention," he said in an attempt to defend himself.

"Of course you do," she sarcastically replied.

"I really do."

"Then why haven't you noticed me and my dumb crush on you," she whispered once more, a little louder than before. Adrien couldn't believe his ears. Did he correctly hear what was said? Did she confess to having feelings for him? Or did he misunderstand because he definitely was not supposed to hear what she said. "W- what did you say?"

"Didn't you say you weren't deaf and you're always paying attention?" she smirked as she leaned a little closer to the blonde knowing damn well he heard what she had said.

"W- well I-"

"I thought so"

"Are you two dating?" Thomas questioned.

"Why would you wanna know?" Marinette asked as she turned to look at the man.

"Because I am concerned for your wellbeing?" 'That sounded more like a question than an answer' Adrien thought.

"Yeah we are" Adrien answered," is there a problem with that?"

"Of course not" he replied, "just don't make the same mistakes I did son"

"If I don't know what those mistakes are, how do I avoid 'em?" he asked.

"Well.... I uh I guess I could tell you....... unless of course" he paused and turned to Marinette, "you'd rather hear it from your girlfriend"

"I think I'd rather hear it from the source"

"Very well then, but first, um... I... I was, um, truly terrible. I deeply regret not realizing it sooner," he expressed with sincerity, though doubts lingered about the authenticity of his words. "I would do anything, absolutely anything, to undo my past actions. I genuinely mean it. I am aware that I've caused you pain, your mother as well as many others. Can you find it in your heart to forgive your old man? Can we rebuild our family?" The mysterious man and Marinette gazed at him, their expressions reflecting surprise.

"D- do you r- really mean it?" Marinette questioned.

"Of course, I do," he responded.

"Why should we believe you?" the mysterious man challenged.

I'm not sure," he said with a shrug. "But I understand if you can't. I know I've been awful to you all" Marinette and the mystery man looked at each other and smiled. "We'll forgive you papa but on one condition" she smirked.

"I'll do anything" he said.

"Anything?" she questioned.

"Yes! Anything you ask of me! I'll do it!" Marinette whispered into the mysterious man's ear and he nodded. He then walked over to Thomas and whispered in his ear while I just stood there confused. Tears welled up in Thomas' eyes as he asked, "Is that all?"

"Yep!" Marinette and the mysterious man replied.

"You two are amazing!" he exclaimed as he hugged her.

"Ehem" a voice was heard from behind the blonde. They all turned to the source, only to be yelled at. "You guys are just gonna let him off the hook?!? After all he's done?!?"

"A man who forgives is stronger than a man who does not, Chloe" Adrien blurted out.

"But Adrikinss, you don't even know what he did yet!" she exclaimed.

"I'm sure I'll hear all about it when the time is right"

"B- but h-"

"Chloe, please just drop it"

"Fine! But only because you asked me too!" she said as she stomped out of the house.

"I'll go talk to her" the mystery man sighed.

"I'll come with you" Thomas said, "I should probably apologize to her" and with that Adrien and Marinette were left alone. The tension in the room had never been so thick before, it was like you could literally cut it into pieces with a knife or scissors. 'Should I say something' Adrien thought. 'Maybe I should'

"U- um Adrien?" Marinette questioned, breaking his train of thought.

"Y- yes Marinette?"

"W- why.... why did you say we were dating?"

"U- uh" he froze. Why did he say it?

"I- I um" he sighed, "Marinette, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about..."
