CHAPTER 1

“Brent, dalhin mo na din 'to do'n, salamat.” My parent, Alicia, ordered me to put the horse food in the hut.

After I brought all the food for the horses, I approached my horse and stroked his beautiful hair.

“Hey, buddy.” I called my horse and picked up food to feed him. Later,  I had to deliver the vegetables in town.

I tapped the neck of my horse and picked up the bucket.

“Aba'y syempre nagmana yata sa'kin' yan!” my father proudly said to his friend.

“Hay nako, tama na 'yang usapan na 'yan masyado nang tirik ang araw, bilisan na natin at masakit na sa balat.” my  mother said, and I went to her and helped her lift the cart.

“Salamat anak,” Alicia said, smiling at me.

We hastened the harvesting of the vegetables because the sun was too hot. I took off the clothes I was wearing and hung them over my shoulders.

I immediately looked what he was talking about, and I saw a group of ladies outside our fence while they're looking at me smiling, kumunot naman ang noo ko sa kinilos nila

The sun was too bright for them to stop in front of our vegetable garden.

My father's friend asked me while he was fanning himself with his hat, smiling.

Alicia said to him, and my  father laughed and tapped his shoulder.

“Pihikan 'yan sa babae, kaya ibahin mo' yan sa'yo,” my father said to him.

If they don't ask when I will get married, they will ask, why haven't I introduced anyone to my parents yet, kailangan bang mag madali? I haven't seen a woman I like yet. I want a woman, not a girl.

I want to date a woman with whom I want to carry our children in the future. I want to date a woman to marry. I guess I'm too old to play dates with many girls.

Alicia said to me while she was putting the vegetables on the side.

I just looked at her and picked up all the vegetables and put them on the cart.

My father said to Alicia.

Alicia said, and she walked out of our garden.

This hacienda was only taken care of by my parents, and they also left me with them.

I haven't even seen my real parents yet. At what they look like, kung sino ba ang kamukha ko, I don't have any idea of their faces.

Even Alicia doesn't know what my father looks like.

They only saw my real mother, but I didn't see her in my life. I've already grown up here without seeing my real mother, but Alicia said my real mother was always visiting here, but I was always on the town to deliver all the vegetables.

I'm already twenty-eight years old, and I don't have any intention to get to know who my parents are.

“Kakain na!” Alicia shouts. I wipe my sweat on my forehead and look at our house where Alicia was standing waving her hands.

This hacienda was inherited by my mother's mother, my grandmother, of course, and my mother could not sell it because it was named after me.

Alicia told me before my grandmother passed away that she named it after me so that my mother could not sell it.

My mother needs my approval and signature before she can sell this. Alicia always opens this topic. Sa tuwing sinasabi ni Alicia sa akin na nag punta daw ang magaling kong magulang to convince me to have a signature on the papers.

I'm not that stupid to sell this, mawawalan ng tirahan ang mga kinalakihan kong mga magulang.

“Pasensya na at ngayon lang ako, madami pa kasi akong tinapos sa manukan,” he said when he sat down.

Alicia said and get a set of plates for him so he can join us to eat.

Lucio said while looking at me.

“Nah, I'm not interested, you can go by yourself.” I said to him and continued to eat.

“Hay nako kayo, palagi niyo nalang ipinipilit ang gan'yan mga bagay sa kanya, malaki na itong si Brent hayaan niyong makapili siya ng gusto niyang mapapangasawa” Alicia defended me against them, and she walked towards me on my back and held my shoulders.

This place was the biggest hacienda in the whole town, it's like a farm already. Many businessmen want to buy this property, but I reject them.

Even if they bet a large amount of money, I don't care about the money, this place is already my home.
