Alice Marasigan has two shifter assistant bodyguards beside Lea, her personal assistance. For every time she goes out from his grandfather's house. The three were always with her so that the shifters around wouldn't notice that her grandfather was hiding something.

Alice alighted from the carriage and entered the Marasigan family residence with ease. It had been quite some time since she had been back here, so she wanted to enjoy her time. Behind her, Lea tried her best to catch up with the young female teens. Lea is so friendly; she is also a human like them.

"Alice, come here for a second."

"Yes Grandpa?"

Alice walked towards her grandfather, who was sitting on a chair in front of the main entrance of the house. His face was dark, emitting a grave aura.

"The Alpha wanted to test all the new generals of the young generation. Given that Janus, your brother, is famous, you will need to meet him."

Hearing that news, Alice's face darkened. Janus was the name of her adoptive brother, who, in reality, didn't exist. It was a figure she created with her family. In order to allow their family to rise again. Since female shifters were not allowed to join the military, under the current circumstances, she had to create a different identity. Thus, after some discussions, they came up with the idea of Janus Marasigan.

Although her plan was to make an excellent brother, she never thought that she would be this famous. The name Janus Marasigan was already well established, and countless shifters and humans were hoping to meet the boy. Alice herself was only a rookie general.

However, for her soldiers, just her presence alone was enough to make their blood boil, and they wanted to charge against the enemies without hesitation.

Her physical strength was indeed greater than that of most warriors in the pack, but compared to those seasoned fighters, it was still not enough. What she had were her wits and her young age, which boost the human-wolf warrior's morale in times of war.

"Just what can that person do?"

Alice raged. She didn't want to change herself into Janus Marasigan, but she knew that it was unavoidable. With Janus Marasigan's achievement, a lot of people would be suspicious if he never appeared, and the Marasigan family would be in for bigger trouble.

"That's what the Alpha said; he wanted to test all the young warriors of the pack, but I think there's more to it than that."

Alice's brows furrowed.

"No matter what happens, you have to be careful, understand?"

Alice Marasigan nodded and said

"Right, when will the call be?"

Bagalto Marasigan was going to say something, but he stopped when he smelled the approaching arrival of a shifter riding a horse.

Alice also felt it because, apart from her keen sense of smell, she also has the ability to feel the surroundings with every footstep on the ground.

A eunuch arrived right in front of the house, announcing the Alpha's order to pass a message. Bagalto took the scroll, and his face grew a few shades darker. The Alpha ordered that the Marasigan family should all come to the pack house tomorrow.

After the eunuch had left, Alice raised her head,

"There shouldn't be anyone who knew that I had returned, right?"

Her words were correct. Because Alice Marasigan needed to attend as a girl, she had to return from the battlefield without anyone knowing that Janus Marasigan was gone. She returned to the village stealthily, but there were still shifters who caught wind of it. There was only one possibility: there were spies watching her.

Bagalto Marasigan growled in annoyance, then hurriedly went outside. He wanted to hunt down those spies as soon as possible.

Watching her raging grandfather, Alice sighed. She chose to return to her room and rest since she didn't have much time for resting anymore. That Alpha would surely be a difficult mission for them and possibly do something to hinder her.

Lea helped Alice Marasigan change her clothes and wash up before the young princess rested for the night.

Early the next morning, Alice Marasigan woke up, and she lazily slipped out of her bed. The comfortable bed was quite a luxury for her, but she reluctantly got up, knowing that there were far too many things that needed to be done.

"Lea," Alice called on her maid.

"Yes, Princess." Lea readily helped Alice prepare her makeup. After putting all of it in order on the table, she retreated behind.

Alice Marasigan picked up a face mask and wore it on her face. Janus Marasigan's facial features were undeniably feminine, so it was difficult for her to qualify as a boy with that face.

To hide her feminine features, whenever she was on the battlefield appearing as Janus Marasigan, she would wear a face mask. The face mask didn't differ much from her face, but it helped her look much more masculine. Whenever people saw her face with the face mask, they would at most think of her as a "son of the goddess."

After putting the face mask on, Alice rubbed some lotion on her skin to make her complexion darker, for her original skin was fair white like snow, but normally it is common to have this skin as a vampire has.

To finish up, Alice tied up her hair in a bun, making her hair considerably shorter. Having done these fashions multiple times, she expertly perfected Janus Marasigan's look in a short time.

Finally, Alice picked up a set of blue robes and wore them. She could not wear an armor suit in the city unless she was planning to go to war. The robe made her appear like a refined warrior instead of a general.

On the side, Lea took a deep breath and sighed.

If only the princess were a real man, there would be countless women who would fall for him just from her appearance alone. Even Leah herself could not help but feel that she would definitely fall for "Janus Marasigan" if not for the fact that she knew that she was a woman, a very attractive young female princess and warrior of the pack.

Seeing the stunned expression on Lea's face, Alice laughed. "Have you fallen for me again, Lea?"

Leah blushed. "I don't... Ah, it's your fault for being so handsome."

Alice laughed; she loved to tease Lea since the girl would easily blush. Janus Marasigan waved her hand.

Another girl dressed in black appeared. Her stature was very similar to Alice Marasigan's, but she looked very different.

"Mer, stay here and be on guard. If anyone would look for Alice Marasigan, just show up and act like a shy girl."

"Yes, Princess." The girl in black nodded at her in agreement.

The girl in black clothes was one of Alice Marasigan's secret bodyguards. This girl was a human but was trained as an assassin; even Alice herself is the trainer of her; the common sense of the shifter was shared with her in order to protect herself in any way. Her main task was to substitute Alice Marasigan if she needed to appear as both Janus Marasigan and Alice Marasigan. Apart from that, she needed to protect Alice in case she needed it.

"Lea, you stay here too."

Lea nodded. She knew that she could not follow Alice when she was posing as Janus, or the shifters around would be suspicious.

After leaving them with her instructions, Janus Marasigan proceeded to go to the palace. The time to face the Alpha had arrived.
