The gems are gathered around the entrance to the barn looking at the drill, everyone, but Peridot, she is nowhere to be seen
"Are you alright, Turquoise?" Pearl asks concerned, thinking about Turquoise's anger on the moon as she places her hand on his back
"I'm sorry for that...it was unlike me...I suppose Peridot conversing about what could have happened to this beautiful planet set me off...I have come to realise I want to protect this planet and share it with you gems as well" he says looking at Pearl "when I first emerged from my icy tomb I was scared and confused by this strange and beautiful world...You gems and even Steven have helped me learn so much... what I'm saying is that I Turquoise wish to defend this planet as a crystal gem!" Turquoise declares and sighs as if he had bottled up everything he had said. Turquoise turns to apologise to the gems but is surprised when he sees a largely teary-eyed Pearl and Garnet
"Are you two alright?" Turquoise asks, slightly confused and scared
"Oh Turquoise!!!" Pearl cries, throwing her arms around Turquoise and knocking him off his feet "Oh sorry" she laughs. Turquoise just wraps his arms around her
"Pearl, don't cry and turquoise." Garnet looks at Turquoise with a small smile and sticks her thumb up. "Welcome to the crystal gems."
"Yeah, Turquoise!" Steven happily "group hug!" He cries jumping onto Pearl and Turquoise
"Doggy pile!" Amethyst yells as she also jumps on
After a short while, everyone gets off Turquoise, and Pearl composes herself
"How much longer 'till we can use the drill?" Amethyst asks
"Well, with the new coordinates we got from the moon base, it should be ready to go. But we really should perform a few tests first." Pearl explains
"Actually, I was going to ask Peridot if she could alter the design so I may fit in it as well just in case things go 'sideways,'" Turquoise says, doing air quotes at 'sideways'
Steven watches as he sees Peridot sneaking into the barn and follows her. Peridot fumbles with the prism she retrieved from the Moon Base. She quickly hides it behind her back when she sees Steven.
"Oh! Steven." Peridot expresses surprised
"Peridot, I need to talk to you." Steven says
"Uhhh, yeah! Sure!" Peridot complies
Steven and Peridot enter the truck that is parked inside the barn
"Why are we in this broken-down vehicle?" Peridot says as Steven continues to observe the prism Peridot is hiding.
"I wanted to ask you... about the Diamonds?" Steven says
"Oh! I don't know what the others have told you, but there's a reason they're in charge." Peridot explains
"Why's that?" Steven asks
"They're objectively better than us. Every Gem has their strengths and weaknesses, but not them. They're absolutely totally completely flawless beings! Especially my diamond, Yellow Diamond, the most perfect, the most reasonable, rational, efficient decider ever to exist in the universe!"
"You're really loyal to her, aren't you?" Steven says
"How could I not be? We might have our little truce, but I'll never forsake the Gem I was made for!" Peridot declares fangirling a bit
"That's good, because... she's right behind you!" Steven lies
"WHAT?" Peridot turns around, and Steven snatches the prism from her. He then exits the truck and locks Peridot inside.
