You left to go get coffee while Molly went to see if there had been any progress made. You got back just as Molly stormed out of the room with tears in her eyes. You knew it was Sherlock.

"What did you do," you asked sternly as you walked into the room.

"I simply saved her the time, and heart ache of dating someone who obviously wasn't interested in her." Sherlock said with no emotion to his voice.

"Listen here, Sherlock," you said and walked up to him to make sure he was listening. "Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean you have to pretend everyone else does too. You know how emotional others can get, so take that into consideration before you hurt someone else. Before someone gets hurt worse." Sherlock sat back in shock, with a look on admiration on his face. He must not be used to someone talking to him like this. A small smile tugged at his lips as he stood up. You felt your cheeks become warm with heat at the sudden nearness of him standing right in front of you. He grabbed your wrist, and leaned down to whisper in your ear.

"You have confidence, let's hope it's not from the false sense that I don't have you figured out yet." he pulled away and sat back down. While he was turned you took in a deep breathe to slow your heart rate. Your wrist still tingled where he had held it. You could still feel his hot breathe against your neck. You longed for him to talk to you again in that velvet sweet voice, and to feel his soft touch. You felt something swell up inside you. But now was not the time to deal with it. You pushed that feeling down, and hoped Sherlock was bluffing about having you figured out.

You were aware of Sherlock and John talking, but you weren't interested in listening you had another case to solve. You remembered the hatred against the detective who marked Sherlock, and how you felt the need to stop it from happening again, how you felt your speed up when he talked to you, the feeling you got when he held your wrist. You knew what these signs all pointed at but decided for now to ignore them. You couldn't let this show. If Sherlock did know everything about you then you just hoped that you could keep this from him.

"Carl Powers." You heard Sherlock whisper as your attention came back to the two.

"Who's Carl Powers."

"It's where I began," Sherlock said before jumping out of his chair and putting on his coat, and scarf. You and John exchanged a confused look before he two grabbed his coat. Sherlock opened the door to let John through when he noticed you hadn't moved.

"Are you coming?"

"What I thought if you had me all figured out there wouldn't be much use for me to stick around."

"You have more use than you think. Now grab your coat." You felt a smile creep onto your face as you grabbed your coat, and followed Sherlock out of the room.

On the cab ride back to 221b Sherlock explained to you and John who Carl Powers was.

Once back at the flat you and John waited impatiently unsure of how to help while Sherlock tried to figure out the mystery of Carl Powers. Eventually you picked up a book off one of the shelves and began to read, and John went to talk to Sherlock.

"Is there anything either of us can do to help. I want to help there's only five hours left."

"I want to help to," you said as you walked over to the kitchen.

"That's your brother," John said as he checked his phone."He's texting me now."

"Hmm must be a root canal."

"He did say national importance," John said now irritated.

"How quaint."

"Who's quaint?"
