You went to a store on the other side of London to get milk in hopes of not having to deal with Sherlock anymore tonight. You finally reached 221b again close to midnight. As quietly as you could you made your way up the stairs and unlocked the door. It let out a slight creak as it opened making you cringe at the noise. You creep-ed through the  living room to the kitchen and put the milk into the fridge next to what looked like a bag of severed flesh.

You were about to plop down onto the couch and go to sleep, but before you could you noticed that someone else occupied your couch. You carefully tiptoed through the darkness to the side of the couch where you could see who was in the way of you getting to sleep. Sleeping on the couch was none other than Sherlock Holmes. Still clad in his suit lying on his back with his hands over his chest. You would've thought he would look peaceful while he slept, but he wasn't sleeping peacefully. His soft featured face was hard and scrunched together in desperate concentration. You weren't sure if he was sleeping or merely in his mind palace (which you saw rarely, you were normally made to leave the room at such times), but this seemed different his hands were lying limply at his sides, and one finger would twitch at random as if he were trying to play a beautiful sonata on his violin. you stood for a moment next to the couch determining what to do. well, there's no where else to sleep other than Sherlock's bed, but you'd feel weird if you just went and slept in his bed without his permission...

You reached down to Sherlock's shoulder and hesitantly shook it, gently. "Sherlock," you whispered. He shifted on the couch a bit, but still asleep. "Sherlock!" You said more urgently. Even though your voice was barely above a whisper it felt like you were screaming in the silence. Sherlock rolled towards you and nearly off the couch before his eyes slowly opened.

"(Y/n)?" Sherlock said. Damn his voice was even hotter than usual. "Where have you been?"

"Uh, getting milk."

"For ten hours?" You should've used that time to come up with a better excuse than to not be here..."Never mind that isn't important," he said while sitting up. His bed hair may just be the death of you. You shook your head you cannot think that way, you cannot. "The important thing is," he continued, " is that I'm, uh, I'm sorry. I am sorry about earlier. I just sometimes, I-"

"Sherlock, you don't have to. I know John put you up to this." Having him only apologize on John's request didn't make you feel better.

"He didn't ask me, (Y/n). I don't do this often, actually not at all, but I am sorry and I am horrible at apologizing obviously because this has turned into a train wreck." You couldn't help but smile at the thought he was putting in. Normally he only put thought into cases.

"Sherlock, it's okay. I'm fine," you said.

"Good," Sherlock let out a sigh of relief. " I was getting worried that you might not come back, and if I were you I wouldn't after sleeping on this couch for so long." He stretched his back, "It's so uncomfortable."

"Eh," you said sitting down next to him, "I've uh, slept in worse places..." You decided not to bring up the events of your and Moriarty's time together.

"Um, (Y/n)," Sherlock said breaking the silence," I know that you're still looking for a place to stay and considering the amount of time you spend her and with John and I what would you think about renting the apartment below ours 221c? I mean it's small, but at-least you'll have a bed and not have to sleep on this horrible uncomfortable couch I don't even know why we bought this thing?" the two of you laughed and the last of your worry and tension melted away.

"A bed would be nice, and Molly's too nice to tell me when I'm a bother," you thought aloud. It was surprising Molly didn't push you to finding an apartment and a full time job now that you were out of college.

"Well, Molly is actually to nice to think that..." Sherlock began rambling about Molly and deducing her so to speak. You just sat there watching him in astonishment and a bit of annoyment. "Oh, sorry I did that again..." Sherlock said after a couple minutes.

"Don't be sorry," you assured him, "It's brilliant what you can do absolutely brilliant, but annoying at times." You both laughed and continued chatting  for another hour. After you yawned for the fifth time in one minute Sherlock thought it best for you to go to bed.

"Well, I'll be off to bed now, um goodnight," Sherlock said you could tell his whole trying to be nice was more difficult than he thought it would be. You did find it heart warming though.

"Goodnight, oh, and Sherlock?" He turned around. "When I woke you what were you dreaming about, if you don't mind me asking."

"You know what, I don't remember," he said before turning down the hall to his room.

That night you got the rest you'd had in a while.
