Ch. 14: Robbery

On the other side of the street, Eda was observing them with binoculars as Luz carrying Amity into the building.

"Again? Geez, humans are really like sex." Eda said with a head shake. "Guess I should report to Odalia. Tell her the good news that her daughters got a girlfriend."

Eda tapped the necklace in her neck to establish the dimensional connection to contact Odalia.

"Edalyn, what do you have to report?" Odalia asked.

"Well, you might have a new daughter in law."

"Excuse me?" Odalia asked.

"I'm saying your daughter has got herself a girlfriend, they must've known each other for a while because they're crazy about each other." Eda said with a reminiscent smile. "Reminds me of my time with Raine."

"She's in love with a Human?! I will not allow this! Especially with a girl!"

Eda flinched at the volume of her screaming, making her wince but she had to know this would be her reaction.

"Does it really matter who or what your daughter loves as long as she's happy?" Eda asks but knew the answer Odalia would give.

"Of course, it doesn't! A witch can NEVER be with a human!" Odalia said.

Eda rolled her eyes. If she wasn't getting six figures from this, she wouldn't give a damn.

"And haven't you observed them enough? You should've been able to snatch my daughter by now." Odalia said.

"Well, that isn't possible when she's constantly surrounded by people." Eda said, "In case you aren't aware, people in the human realm have eyes."

"Fine, then I'll come get her myself."

"Wait what?" Eda said in surprise.

"I said, I'm coming to get her myself. Don't worry, you'll still have your money." Odalia said, "Now, what type of weapons do humans use?"

The next day, Luz and Amity were watching the morning News.

"Late last night, a gun store was robbed-"

Amity changed the channel.

"That's ironic." Luz said, "The last place you would want to rob is a gun store."

"I say we should be careful; we don't know why it was robbed, all we know is there is someone with a gun going around."

"Want me to ask the pigeons if they saw anything?" Luz asked.

"I would've found that crazy two days ago but not anymore. Ask away in case the same person comes to the zoo." Amity said to her girlfriend.

"Alright." Luz said, going over to the window and whistled.

A few pigeons landed on the window.

"Yo, Henry, did you see someone rob the gun store?" Luz asked.

"I saw someone leaving it with green hair. Never seen them before."

"Green hair, huh? Any other features?" Luz asked him.

"She's got a real stuck-up demeanor and slim waist with hips about as wide as your mom, no disrespect." Henry said with his wings up.

"Anything else?" Luz asked.

"She had pointy ears."

"Pointy ears?" Luz said as she glanced back at Amity. "Just like Amity...This can't just be a coincidence, could it?"

"I don't know but me and the flock will keep an eye out for you." Henry said to Luz.

"Good."

Luz quickly gave the bird some toast from breakfast before returning inside and giving Amity the news about the woman that robbed the gun store.

"So, I know a little bit about the woman who rob the gun store." Luz said, "They have green hair, a stuck up attitude, they're thiccc with three C's-"

"I will build a doghouse just to put you in it." Amity said.

"I'm just repeating what I was told!" Luz said, putting her hands up, "And they have pointed ears like you."

"Like me?" Amity said in surprise, moving to touch her ear.

"Amity, could that... be your birth mom?"

"...I don't know and honestly I don't care." Amity said as she pointed to a family photo. "Because that woman, the one who raised me and loved me all my life is the only one I will ever see as my mother. Whoever that woman is, the one who robbed the gun store, is a dangerous stranger and I won't listen to anything she has to say."

"Amity, I love you, but if someone points a gun at you, I don't think you'll have a choice in the matter." Luz said.

"I can handle myself, Luz. I've been taking self defense classes since I was young and I always a tranquilizer gun just in case." Amity said as she showed her the tranquilizer gun. "Thankfully, I don't need to use it on the giraffes, but I will use it in that woman if she shows up."

"I know, and I love you for that." Luz said, "But I'm also worried that something might happen if she does show up."

Amity decided to help Luz relax with a small kiss before looking into her eyes.

"If she shows up, I know my animal queen girlfriend will come to my rescue." Amity said.

"Animal Queen? Now that's just silly." Luz said with a laugh. "I prefer the title, 'Animal Translator'."

"Well, my walking translator, shall we go have a little fun?" Amity asked.

"A little fun? Yes please." Luz said with a nod.

The two went to the bedroom.
