Not Ready

The society is not ready
To hear any words uttered
Complimenting a woman
If not tainted by her flaws.

The men are not ready
To accept reality, they won't accept
That they won't even exist
If not for a woman.

A woman who bleeds
And who takes the pain like it's nothing,
A woman who stands tall
Even when her heart has been torn and shredded.

This nation is not ready
To listen to any woman
If she talks about intellect
Or even basic integrity.

So if they refuse to hear
We are forced to shout
And if they refuse to listen
We need to scream.
Then the women,
They are hysterical.

No one is ready to see
That ignorance is shameful
And not an excuse.

No one can see past her body
And it's coverage or lack thereof.

She is not ready
For the world's cruelty
But when she faces it, fights back,
She'll be shot down.
Not by guns or words,
But by lies and deceit

When she falls down,
There'll be no helping hands
Rather she'll be stomped down
Because it's common, she's not special
Every woman goes through this, she'll be fine.

It's not okay because it's common
It shouldn't be happening at all.

But we are not ready.
Not ready for that conversation.
