If mistakes were made
While living my life,
I don't make the world wait
For me to admit it and apologise.
For all my imperfections
And anxious bundles of nerves,
I've never once acted pretentious
Never judged your choices like you did mine.
I have my faults and flaws,
Nobody is perfect in this world.
But I can definitively say, for all I was,
I was never the villain that you cast
In the story that came out as yours.
Don't say I've moved on.
Don't say that like you have not.
Don't say I betrayed you,
By being different than you thought.
The girl you knew, she's still here,
Just after learning her place.
Working on her own stuff
But never once hiding her face.
Unapologetically, unabashedly,
This is me.
