When Bruce meets Selina Kyle, she heard that Batman stopped the Red Barons. And now, other mobsters are after him now.
Selina: "I heard that Batman character stopped the Red Barons. Now, every mobster they know is out for blood. Bat's blood."
Bruce: "Don't flatter yourself, Selina."
That's when her boss tried to kill Selina. She was almost at death's door when cats surrounded her body. Her eyes open to reveal cat-like eyes. And, after a bit of insanity, she becomes Catwoman.
Batman: "Who are you?"
Catwoman: "And here I thought you wanted to stop the mobsters just like I do; I guess we're more alike than you noticed."
Batman: "We're nothing alike."
Then, when Bruce learns of Catwoman's actions against the other mobsters, he appears as Batman. Batman tries to stop and reason with Catwoman but, she escapes as soon as the mobsters appear.
