You showed up today.

I wasn't expecting that.

I opened my door and there you were.

You looked almost as exhausted as me, with tears running down your face.

I pulled you inside and tried to calm you down.

Eventually you did.

You told me how much you missed me, how you missed our friendship.

You didn't know why I have been avoiding you, and I didn't tell you.

I still couldn't. I'm so useless.

You asked if we could start over, or if we could pick up where we left off.

I just nodded and agreed.

You hugged me.

My heart hurt.

You stayed for a little while.

I pretended like everything was ok.

I don't think it ever will be.

It got late and you decided it was time to go home.

I said goodbye to you.

I watched you drive off.

I'm sorry I couldn't tell you.

I cried for a while.

It's all I've been able to do.

I should have told you.

I guess maybe you'll never know.
