~Flashback~

For nine long months, I have waited for this day, and it's finally here! As soon as Kashi got relieved from his position as Kushina's guard, he ran to my place to tell me. With everything that life has thrown at us the last couple of years, I couldn't contain my excitement when Minato Sensei told us Kushina was pregnant. The idea of a new life coming into the world brought a light into my heart that I hadn't felt in a really long time.

I also may or may not have bought so much stuff for when the baby was born that Kakashi had to constantly remind me that this wasn't my baby and I was going a bit over board. But he's a boy, what does he know? So naturally, as soon as he told me that Kushina was being brought to the birthing suite today, I couldn't resist not buying something else for the little cutie.

Or a few somethings.

"I think you went overboard, Emi." Kakashi sighed with a small eye roll.

I repositioned the bags in my hands and shrugged my shoulders. "I can't help it. I love babies." I said with a closed eyed smile.

His face softened as a small smile crept on his lips under his mask. It might be hard to read his expressions at times, but I could tell when he was smiling. No matter how small it was.

"I haven't seen you this excited about something in a long time."

I looked down slightly. "Yeah, well, it's not like we've really had a reason to be excited lately."

He nodded with a sigh. "Sorry."

"You really have to stop doing that." I said with a small smile. "I've already told you, you have nothing to be sorry for."

"I know, but -"

"Kakashi! My eternal rival!"

The two of us stopped and turned to Guy as he ran up behind us. I couldn't help but giggle. If there was one thing I loved about Guy, it was that he never gave up on Kakashi. He was determined to have his friendship no matter how many times he was turned down. Ironically, I think that's the one thing Kakashi always hated about him.

"How about you and I engage in one of our rivalry competitions?!" Guy insisted with a big toothy grin. Kakashi groaned quietly, making me giggle.

"Go ahead, Kashi. I have to take this stuff home anyway."

"At least let me help you. I swear you bought out the store." He insisted, grabbing some of the bags out of my hands.

"More things for Lord Fourth's baby?" Guy asked, to which I nodded. "I can help you as well. Kakashi is right, Emiko, you seem to have your hands full." He grabbed the remaining bags from my hands, and I couldn't help but chuckle.

"I had it, but thank you. After we drop these off, you two can do your little rivalry thing. Kashi and I were going to get dinner after this if you want to join us, Guy?" I offered.

"No, no, that's okay. I don't want to interrupt you two." He said sheepishly with a sweat drop.

I shrugged my shoulders. "It's not like it's a date, Guy. It's just ramen." I giggled.

As we kept walking down the main part of the village, I could hear the two of them whispering behind me, and normally, I would try to eaves drop, but something else held my attention. There was this overwhelmingly ominous feeling in the air that no matter how hard I tried to brush off, it wouldn't go away. I stopped and closed my eyes so I could focus more on my sensory abilities to see if I could find anything that would indicate where that feeling was coming from.
