A/N: 
Stop what you're doing and turn of the acoustic version of  Everlong while you read this. I don't care, just do it and you'll thank me later.

The acoustic guitar in his hands sang just as he did. Quiet and warm. The rain pattering against the window set the stage. I was here to comfort Dave. Now, he was here to comfort me:
"Hello, I've waited here for you... Everlong..."
His voice was low. Sensual even. Just dripping with honey. I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks at his words. 
"Tonight, I throw myself into and out of the red, out of her head she sang..."
His eyes were closed. His long eyelashes kissed the tops of his cheeks. His mouth slacked open slightly as an instrumental portion of the song came. It didn't last long, however, it did open a gateway to a beautiful second verse:
"Come down and waste away with me, down with me... Slow how you wanted it to be. I'm over my head, out of her head she sang...
"And I wonder when I sing along with you..."
"Oh, Dave," I couldn't help but sigh.
He smiled at me and continued. 
"If everything could ever feel this real forever, if anything could ever be this good again 
"The only thing I'll ever ask of you, you gotta promise not to stop when I say when... She sang..."
Another instrumental part.
God, he was amazing. Perfect. An angel. Did he really write this all for me?
"Breathe out, so I can breathe you in... hold you in... and now..."
His singing stopped. His guitar playing continued, but he stopped singing completely. 
"What?" I asked, coming down from my high he gave me during his performance. 
"I, uhh," he chuckled. "That's all I've written."
"Oh," I smiled, giggling along with him. 
"So, uh, how'd you like the song?" He stopped playing. 
"I loved it!" I breathed. "You wrote that?"
"Mmm-hm... I just, uh... I couldn't help myself. One night I started playing and the words came tumbling out. Did you really like it?"
"Yes." I nodded. "And I like you."
"I like you too." He winked, then chuckled at the thought of the word we both really wanted to say.
