A little something just because:)

~~~~~~~~
I rolled onto my back, hearing and feeling the crinkling of papers under me.
"Careful, (Y/N)," my boyfriend chuckled, waving a cautious hand over me before turning back to his homework.
Brian had his physics homework sprawled all over our bed where we were. He was trying to get as much work done as possible before the end of the semester- which was another two weeks away. I had finished all my work for once, but I was bored waiting for him to finish. Laying on the bed, I watched as he sat and worked quietly.
"God, Brian, you've been at it for hours! Can't you just take a small break?"
"No, because if I stop now, then nothing'll get done, and I'll be spending the entire weekend doing work instead of being with you."
"You make it seem like you've got the entire semester to finish."
"Well, lucky for you I'm almost done."
"Mmm."
I stared at the ceiling for the longest time, rubbing my fingertips on his knee. The thought of him being an astrophysicist boggled me. He always seemed like he'd run off with in a rock n roll band and never come home. I actually expected that of him, really. But he was so passionate about his schooling, it made me wonder if the band was just my own fantasy.
I huffed obnoxiously, turning my head slightly and bumping my head on his knee.
"Ow."
He chuckled again. He constantly looked back and forth between textbooks and the things he wrote. His pen scratched against the paper, a very satisfying sound. He caught me staring, and smiled, glancing around my body.
"Do you mind sitting up for a second?" He asked sweetly.
I rolled my eyes at the puppy dog stare he gave and sat up. "What exactly are you doing?"
"Uhh, energy scales of inflation." He smiled to me, returning his gaze to the paper.
"And what's that?"
Brian paused, and raised an eyebrow. "You cannot be interested in this."
"And why's that? Just because I don't understand it doesn't mean I can't enjoy you nerding-out about it."
"You get bored too easily."
"Just read it to me."
He shook his head with a smirk on his face.
"Inflation predicts a nearly scale-invariant spectrum of gravitational waves in addition to the scalar modes.  A measurement of the gravitational waves contribution would provide a direct measurement of the expansion rate of the universe during inflation as well as the energy scale-"
"Okay, I have no idea what any of that meant."
"And this is beginners stuff."
"Uhhh, Brian!"
"Uhhh, (Y/N)," he mocked, laughing at me when I gave him a glare.
I turned over to have my back facing him and hugged my arms to my stomach. He continued laughing, rubbing my back for a second before returning to his work.
I didn't intend on it, but I began to drift off to sleep. I struggled to keep my eyes open, and I tried to fight it. After about twenty minutes I just let go, allowing myself to go to sleep. Just minutes after making my decision, I was awoken by a soft,  jazzy sounding guitar, and then a perfect doo-wop piano began to play, introducing the singer.
I slowly opened my eyes, seeing Brian at the record player trying to adjust the volume of the song.
"What're you doing?" I asked, drowsiness apparent in my voice.
Brian turned around, smiling when he saw I was awake. "Come here."
I slowly pushed myself up and off the bed. He put my arms around his neck and pulled me close to him. I felt my eyes begin to flutter shut. Brian chuckled again, touching his nose to mine.
"God, you laugh at everything." I muttered, giggling with him.
We swayed back and forth to the music, listening to the otherworldly sound of our song I Only Have Eyes for You.
Are the stars out tonight
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright
I only have eyes for you, dear
The moon may be high
But I can't see a thing in the sky
I only have eyes for you
I don't know if we're in a garden
Or on a crowded avenue
"Aren't you going to ask what the occasion is, darling?" Brian whispered, kissing my cheek.
"Mmm, what is it?"
He moved to look into my eyes and gave a cheeky grin. "I finished my work."
I rolled my eyes and smiled, allowing him to lean down and kiss me. His lips gently moving mine before pulling away. My eyes still closed, I felt his forehead connect with mine.
Another minute passed and the song began to end. As always, Brian sang the final line:
"And I only have eyes for you..."
The song faded out and the stereo turned over to the next record, playing Billie Holiday's Let's Call a Heart a Heart.
"What did you line up all my favourite songs to dance with you to?" I asked, lazily looking into his green-hazel eyes.
"If First in Line starts playing next will that answer your question?"
I huffed a laugh. "Yes, I think it would."
Our foreheads connected again and he nuzzled his nose to mine. The crazy world and all the people in it had nothing on moments like this. I never wanted to go back into reality after times like this, but I always looked forward to the next time the moments would come. And Brian never failed to make them better than the last. It was just one of the little reasons why I loved him so.
