Chap 3

Natsu's pov:

Walking in the first thing I see is Happys bag already packed while he's rummaging through the closet looking for something. "What are you doing?" I ask, startling him and making him bump his head on a shelf.

"Packing your bag, your welcome you got to spend the morning with Lucy." He teases, but looking around at all the scattered clothes I honestly think he just got me in trouble with Lucy, she came by and cleaned a few days ago.

'Meh, I'm not going to be here when she sees this so I'm safe unlike Happy.' "Thanks Happy, but you do know you are staying." I tell him, quickly catching him when he stopped flying.

"But we always go together. Why are you leaving me behind?" He asks already baling his eyes out.

'Huh...Lucy isn't the only one with abandonment issues.' "Shhhh...it's okay little buddy, I'll be back before you know it." I say while petting him. "I promise, but I need you here to take care of Luce, we can't both abandon her again. Plus I've seen how much progress you've done with Carla, maybe you could get her to help you learn transformation magic while I'm gone." I suggest trying to get his mind off of me leaving.

He sniffles, wiping his tears before nodding. "Fine, I'll stay." He says before looking at me weirdly. "Did you lose your scarf?"

"No, I gave it to Lucy to hold onto while my gone."

That somehow worked better than my Carla suggestion because he flies out of my arms and starts smirking at me. "You looovvvveeee her."

Rolling my eyes I continue to pack my bag. "I do, but don't go telling it to the whole guild, I haven't even actually told her yet."

He does an exasperated sigh before dropping to the ground. "Again?! That's the whole reason I left this morning!" He yells at me.

"I couldn't do it." I tell him honestly, dropping right next to him on the floor. "I mean I can't say I love her and leave her right after, but I figured giving her my scarf is the closest thing I could do."

"Let's make a deal, I won't make anymore of a fuss about you leaving me here if you promise to tell her when you get back." Happy says, sticking out his paw for me to shake.

"Why do you want me to tell her so much?" He has been pestering me to confess ever since he found out how I feel, and even before then he teasesed me about liking her.

He shrugs still holding out his paw. "You're happy with her, you've always loved everyone in the guild, but not the way you love her. Everyone can tell, she's the only one that doesn't see it, but it's probably because she loves you too and you can't admit you see it."

I tried to tell him he's wrong, but based on yesterday and this morning he's right. "Fine you win." I say shaking his paw.

"Good, now move it before you lose another day."

-Few hours later at the train station-

I look to Lucy beside me knowing this is the last time I'm going to see her in a while. She looks sad and worried so I grab her hand intertwining our fingers together, she looks surprised down at our hands before looking back up to my face.

"I told you, I'll be back for what's mine." I cup her cheek with my other hand and kiss her, I don't want her to think I'm just referring to my scarf, she is mine as I am hers if she wants.

She'll have a few months to decide if she wants to be mine, I'm already hers and will forever be hers. 'Never thought I'd envy Gajeel, but he got with his chosen mate, how could I not envy that.'

We break the kiss when the train whistles its arrival. "I l-" I quickly shut up before I finish sounding like a psycho, tho instead of freaking out Lucy smiles up at me and kisses my cheek.

"I'll be waiting for you to come back." She tells me while tying the ribbon she uses on her hair around my wrist.

I look at it for a second before hugging her one last time and going to the death trap. 'I hate this already.'

Lucy's pov:

-At the guild-

Almost everyone is acting the same, but that's to be expected, Natsu didn't really tell anyone again. Outside of me and Happy only our team mates know he's going to be gone for a while, and probably Laxus and Gajeel if they where here when he told Gray and Erza.

I don't know why he didn't tell everyone else, but Happy mentioned not to point it out to the others, Natsu said he doesn't want them to notice he's not here. Plus before I came to the guild it wasn't unusual for him to be gone for a long time seeing as he was always chasing the next clue for Igneel so he really isn't used to letting anyone else other than gramps know he'll be gone.

Looking over at Happy he seems really down. "How about you and me go on a simple mission Happy?" I ask trying to keep his mind off the absence of Natsu.

"Aye sir." He says not as enthusiastic as he is normally but it's a start.

He follows me to the request board and I let him pick the mission. 'What part of simple did Happy not get?' I read over the mission and honestly I shouldn't be surprised he picked it.

HELP!
A HUMONGOUS Tuna fish has migrated to the water of Hargeon port.

"Let's go to this one!" Happy says excitedly. "I wonder how the fish will taste like?"

"Maybe it taste like a really strong Tuna." I joke while taking the mission from him and walking over to Mira.

Mira like everyone else is giving me a weird look, but it's a given considering no one other than Happy has seen me wearing Natsu's scarf before. "We are taking this one Mira!" I say to snap her out of it so that I can get it stamped.

"Oh, sure...have fun guys." She calls out after we started walking away.

"We will!" We say, turning a bit to wave behind us.

This is the first time it's just me and Happy on a mission, but I'm sure it'll be fun. Wendy has been away learning from Porlyusicas for the past few days, Erza mentioned to me crime sorciere is coming to visit soon so she wouldn't be going on missions since she doesn't want to miss Jellal and Gray and Juvia seemed to cozy together to interrupt. 'Also I don't want to die by Juvias hands.'
