Betrayal

Chap 6

-After the Vulcan mission in Lucy's apartment-

"Tsss, Ow!" Lucy hisses in pain as Virgo tightens the bandages on her back. The mission had been a success, but Lucy ended up with a lot of bruises from the Vulcans tight grips on her. Her stomach and back where purple almost black, her left arm ended up broken and her legs had a few scrapes and cuts.

Luckily Happy had not been home when she arrived and seen her, but she needed to take care of her wounds till she was able to see Wendy. Happy wound blame himself if he saw her in that condition and Lucy didn't want that so she sent Loke ahead to get Wendy.

It took a few hours for Wendy to get back to the guild and Loke to take her to Lucy, but luckily Happy had not come by and hadn't noticed Loke at the guild.

This had been a painful experience for Lucy but also an eye opening one. Not having anyone to jump in and save her from an attack like Natsu and Happy used to do made her have to strategies her moves more.

She wasn't a tank like Natsu, she has been able to take some heavy hits, but she couldn't compare her strengths to his. What she did have was versatility, she has become a decent fighter over the years and knows different combat styles and weapons, different element she can control as well and with her smarts she could combine all of that if she had the chance.

Fighting along side so many powerful mages helped her learned a lot, but because they where so much stronger she wasn't put in that many dangerous situations. Obviously she still was, being the only one able to fight during the Tartaros incident brought out her magic in a new way.

She still loves her team tho, and if she had to choose from going alone or going with her team she'd always pick her team. Now she's just not that afraid of going by herself.

-1 month afterwards-

And that's exactly what she did. She still went on some missions alone with Happy and some with the rest of their team, but a lot of them on her own.

Lucy wanted to give Happy the space and time to catch up with Lisanna, Gray and Juvia to truly develop there relationship, Wendy to learn more about healing and Erza the chance to explore a girlier side of herself, crime sorciere had been pardoned of their crimes and often visited the guild.

Happy still technically lived with her and often talked about what he had talked with Lisanna. He is worried about her since she thinks Natsu will take her as his mate, it's awkward and he knows Natsu is to blunt and oblivious to tread carefully.

He's annoyed at the rest of the guild too, even with him and the rest of the dragonslayers explaining they still encourage her. Even warns Lucy not to go to the guild without some of the others being there, she is convinced that if she has his scarf and can show him how well she takes care of it it'll somehow make him love her and for some dumbass reason the rest agree with her. Lucy goes in a stardress to the guild all the time now, she wasn't going to risk it after the first time, tho she does think Happy is a bit paranoid about everything else.

Lucy's pov:

"Maybe you should go meet up with Natsu before he comes to visit." Happy suggest.

"Shouldn't you come with me too Happy, I know you miss him just as much as I do." It's not the first time he's suggested this, but it's the first time I've actually considered it.

"Nah...you two need to talk things out, plus you need alone time." He teases, I flick his head making him loose balance on the pillow and fall on the bed. "Ow, I'm serious tho, once they get word he's in town they will try to get him to spend all his time with her and if I go with you it would be for multiple days, they might find it suspicious and follow."

'He does have a point, but I'm nervous about being alone with Nastu. I mean does he even understand what his words mean. Maybe he just thinks he loves me, but he just doesn't understand the difference between loving your friends and relationships love.'

"Where is he right now?" Happy asks bring me out of my thoughts.

"His last letter said he'll be clearing the forest in the Mining Camps and that once that's cleared he's going to come visit for a few days."

"Great that means he's still there. You can meet up with him, help him clear the Vulcans out and then come back." Happy says excitedly already flying around my apartment and packing my bag.

'Why is he so eager about this?' "Happy slow down, what's really going on that you want me out of Magnolia so badly?" I try to calm him down by petting his head but it doesn't work so well.

"I'm not really sure Lushie, but I have a bad feeling. Natsu won't let anything happen to you so you'll be safe with him."

Sighing I pick him up and walk over to my desk. "If it makes you feel better I will, but let's write him a letter explaining why." He nods and we spend the rest of the afternoon writing the letter.

Once it's done I leave it to Happy to seal and mail it while I make dinner.

Happy pov:

After Lucy left I added my note to Natsu in front of hers. She doesn't want to tell him anything about what's going on or how the guild have been treating her, but he needs to know. When he comes back he needs to be prepared for how the guild will try to push him to be with Lisanna.

I care for Lisanna and I want her to be happy, but that's not with Nastu. If she was with Nastu the only one happy will be her, Nastu will be miserable because he isn't with his chosen mate and Lucy will act happy just so that no one worries about her. I don't want them to be miserable.

Lisanna isn't a dragonslayer, she can fall in love with someone else, Natsu can't. I don't know why she came back so obsessed for Natsu, but I can see why the rest are trying to help her. She was thought of as dead for so long, everyone is just happy to have her back and they want to keep her happy. If I didn't know about how dragonslayers work or that Natsu was already in love with Lucy I'd probably help her too.

Even then Lucy would be miserable, I don't know if I would do that. I know I wouldn't treat her the way the guild is tho. They talk so bad behind her back and everyone is worried they would do something if no one was around, it's why we make sure some of us are at the guild.

Hopefully it never goes that far and once Natsu's back he can straighten things out with the guild and everyone goes back to normal.

After sealing the letters I send the letter off to be mailed and come back home to eat Lucy's yummy fishies.
