Will's POV

When Jasmine got back inside, she had a beautiful key necklace wrapped around her neck. We stopped talking when she came back in, but she didn't look mad whatsoever.

"Blow off some steam?" I asked her casually.

She turned towards me slowly. "You could say that." It sounded a little creepy to me, but nobody else noticed it, so I didn't react oddly.

"Oh, and by the way," Jasmine started, "if you guys are okay with it, I'd like to go into town for errands."

"Can we come with?" Austin asked.

She nodded. "Sure, but I'm stopping by the library first."

"That's fine," Percy shrugged. "I need to get a book, as well."

I knew that was a complete lie, because of his dyslexia. And I knew for a fact the public library didn't have books translated in Ancient Greek.

"Great," Jasmine breathed. "Hop in the car. I'll be out in a minute."

We walked out into the car, but I was suspicious. "Am I the only one who thinks she's setting us up?"

Nico shook his head. "I feel the same way. She's acting more odd than usual."

"Usual?" Austin asked.

"Yeah, she's insane," Percy muttered.

"She's not insane," I retorted. "Maybe she's trying to prove a point. With the whole secret thing, I don't know what she's feeling anymore. It was easier when it was just me and her."

"Wow, thanks," Percy scoffed.

"I didn't mean it like that," I mumbled, climbing into the front seat. My friends sat in the back.

Jasmine walked out to the car about a minute later. She had a fiery look on her face, and a wicked smile. Whatever emotion she felt back inside, it was over by then.

"Ready to go, boys?" Jasmine grinned.

"Uh," Nico muttered.

"I'll take that as a yes," Jasmine looked back and snorted.

She drove like a maniac all the way into town. Nobody wanted her to drive, but she was the only one with a license. Whoever gave her that license couldn't have possibly been authorized to give them out.

Austin was holding onto the car handle for dear life when we parked next to the library.

"You good?" Jasmine looked back and took hold of his wrist.

Austin locked eyes with her and exhaled.

"Look, I get I'm a terrible driver," She snorted. "You can just tell me."

"I'm fine," Austin mumbled. "I'm just...shaken up."

I let out a laugh, which earned me a glare from Jasmine.

We hopped out and walked into the library. Jasmine walked hastily to the back of the library, but the other four of us stayed put far from her to talk.

"I think she might be a witch," Austin mumbled. "I mean, look at her. Terrible driver, loves to read."

"She's not a witch," I retorted. "She's just a nerd."

"A crazy nerd," Nico added.

"Did anyone else notice that necklace around her neck?" Percy asked. "She didn't have it on before she walked outside, but it was around her neck when she came back in."

I nodded. "I saw it. I'm going to ask her about that."

About a minute later, she came back holding four extremely thick books.
