THIRD POV

It was still the same night when both Spiders found out they had limited time until they perished. Both were currently in their shared dorm.

Y/N was deep in his sleep, while Gwen was still awake, sitting in the chair at the desk.

She was working on her web shooters. They had somehow jammed while they were glitching, so she was trying to make them work again.

She would also need to restock herself with web-fluid, because her cartridges run out.

Luckily, she had chemistry class tomorrow, so she will create them during class.

She wouldn't admit it, but she was jealous of Y/N. Reason?

He had organic webs, which are infinitive, well, unless he gets tired to the point he can't shoot them anymore.

Speaking of our other spider...

As she focussed on her devices, she heard soft rustling behind her.

She places down her web shooters on the desk and turns to see what was making that noise.

When she turned, she saw what was causing the noise.

It was Y/N, even though he was in deep sleep now, his body was shaking in bed, as he spoke out inaudible words under his breath.

Gwen immediately got up from her seat and kneeled down infront of him. She ran her hand through his face while shushing him.

This was the 3rd time she saw him do this.

First happent on their first night together stuck on this Earth. The 2nd was the night before coming to school and now, this is the 3rd time.

Y/N told her this happens regularly, him mumbling in his sleep. He said it started about 1 year and 5 months ago... exactly the same time frame when he... lost Anya.

She didn't want to push into it. He can talk about other traumatising things, but he never talks about... her. First two times, he only mumbled, but now? He was shaking.

She knew this wasn't normal mumbling in sleep or a bad dream.

This was a nightmare. And it always is the same one.

"A-Anya..." - She hears him say that same wor... no, a name. That same name.

She realised that this was a bigger problem than when Y/N tried to reassure it was nothing.

Her face softness as she places one hand on his cheek, while the other one unconsciously intertwines with his hand.

Y/N's cold face flinches at the touch of her warm hand, his spider-sense kicking in, but soon melts into her hands warmth, as his body starts to slowly stop shaking.

Gwen was surprised by his instant calmness, but she figures even that out. His body probably recognized the same pattern.

It registered her touch, thinking that it belonged to...Anya.

In that moment, she just realised how broken he actually was.

Her death didn't just break him, it tore him down to his core.

While she and her peter were best friends and possibly both had crush on each other, it didn't come close to Y/N and Ayna.

What those two had was an unbreakable bond. The only reason why it broke was because it was never meant to be broken from outside, but from inside, from their own hearts.

So when one heart stopped, so did the other along with it.

When Y/N was completely still in his sleep, Gwen climbed slowly and quietly over him and joined him under the blanket.
