The next stop on the trip was the one and only Big Apple. Ai was excited since this was her first time seeing the Statue of Liberty outside of videos. While Gwen and Max were excited because they got to go to a luxury hotel
You on the other hand were still a bit downtrodden by what happened in Slaterville. This is the main reason you were sitting in front of the TV as Nerd Alert while watching an action movie with Ai
"Why are you an alien again?" She asked as she watched you use a pencil to write on a notepad
"Easier to soak up information in this form" You told her making another note of their movements
"Come on, Y/N. Why don't we go enjoy the hotel like Max and Gwen"
"I'm not stopping you from leaving"
"But Gwen is boring" She said, flopping on the bed "And Max is probably somewhere eating Pig eyes or something"
"Alright, fine. Once I time out we'll go somewhere"

Sitting at the edge of the indoor pool in your swim trunks, you were counting while Ai tried holding her breath underwater. Once she raised out with a gasp she turned to you "How long was that"
"A minute and a half"
"Dang it" She grumbled "...Why don't you try?"
Matching her smile, you spoke "I would love to, Ai. But I'm not really in the mood to get wet"
Swimming over, she placed her elbows on the edge next t you with most of her body submerged "...Still bummed about what that DAImondHead guy said?"
"Not exactly what he said but that I proved him right" You said looking at the watch "Every time I use this thing, one of you guys either get caught in the crossfire or I end up in over my head"
"But you're still here aren't you?"
"That's not the point. I almost died twice each time I fought that Cybertronian dude. Speaking of, how's your head?" You asked patting it
"I'm fine now" She replied, unconsciously leaning into your hand "Like I told you before, it wasn't your fault"
"I wish I could believe that" You replied, moving your hand back to your side "Not only did you get hurt but Max and Gwen almost got hurt as well all because of this thing" You said, raising the watch
"Well at the end of the day, we were fine, so-"
"I'm starting to think it's better if I'm not around you guys anymore"
Since you were looking down into the water, you failed to notice Ai glaring at you. She didn't know where you got the idea you should leave them, but she didn't like it. So, she swung her arm through the water causing it to splash against your face
When you looked at her in confusion she simply shook her head at you "If you leave, then whose going to help you when you need it?"
"...speaking of that... You saved me in the mines and then you saved me with that jet guy. So, thank you, Ai"
"It's no problem. Us Orphans have to stick together, right?" She asked grabbing your hand
"Righaagh!" Grabbing your forearm with her other hand, she pulled you into the water with her while laughing
"Now enough sulking, let's have some fun" She said splashing you once you resurfaced
