Lucky slumped down, her gaze fixed on the ground. Ivy vines wrapped around her paws, and fresh mint leaves tickled her fur. She scanned the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of mist or a glimmer from the nearby pool. Suddenly, a glow caught her eye, but as she approached, she realized it was a ghostly figure. Despite her disappointment, Lucky couldn't help but inch closer to get a better look. The apparition was draped in a knapsack and sported two blazing orange eyes.

"Hi." She greeted Lucky. "I am the barter of this land."

"We can't trade anything, sorry." Lucky mewed.

"You seem lost. I can trade directions for something."

"What do you want?"

As the creature tapped its hooves on the ground, its eyes lit up with an unexpected request. "I want you to be my friend. I know it sounds like it's straight out of a movie." Lucky couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the unusual proposition, but she was always open to making new friends.

"I'll be your friend. My name's Lucky, what's yours?" Lucky purred at last.

"I'm Raya." She muttered, standing up. "Alright, let's go. I already know where you want to be." The spirits behind Lucky exchanged glances but didn't complain as they stepped through arrays of shadowed expanse. Lucky followed her as Raya quietly slipped by rings of leaves and environmental objects.

"We're here." She announced. As Lucky's gaze fell upon the gentle flow of water cascading down the gully's edge, her eyes lit up with excitement. The fog had almost cleared up; Darkness and Moon were gone with it.

"Wait, where's Woolly?" Lucky asked herself as she began to climb the pebbles. She looked around, worried, but her searching was interrupted as Raya grabbed her by the scruff and pulled her up. "And where did the spirits go?"

"They already went through. They know their way through the cave. Now let's go."

"But... Woolly! Woolly!" Lucky shrugged from the creature's grasp and howled Woolly's name. "Woolly!" Lucky's plead turned hoarse as she saw a black-flecked cat, leg reduced to a paperweight, scooting out of the gloomy forests. His back leg was a bloody pulp, scars crossing over every corner of it. His eyes showed nothing but agonizing pain as he gazed at Lucky.

Her heart raced as she tumbled down the rough stones and gently grabbed the kit by his neck. She could hear approaching cats nearby, and it became clear: Woolly had been caught by Darkness and Moon, and they realized he was lying. They destroyed one of his back legs, and he somehow managed to escape.

Tears ran down Lucky's cheeks as she placed the kit in the pool. Water brushed his fluff as Raya glowered around. "We have to go. Bring Woolly." Lucky somberly picked him up and let the portal consume her.
