Void…

I looked at my baby girl sleeping soundly and with her usual thunder grip on my shirt. If she didn’t hold onto something of mine or me she’d never sleep. Though the replacements never kept her occupied for long. But I needed to meet someone she probably wouldn’t want me to. I didn’t want to leave her alone so Scott should be here any minute. Ah, good timing.

“You made it here quick,” I said.

“Of course I did, and I brought cupcakes.” He held up the bag. If I were just a little crazier-.

“Good thinking. I’ll be back she should be awake and hungry. Food’s on the stove and give her my hoodie when she’s done eating or she’ll get antsy.

“Don’t worry. I’ll have the bunny washed, fed and fluffed in no time,” he said, and we both laughed. It’s good to have someone like him in her life. Though I hope she doesn’t make adopting pretty singing guys into a home a habit. I originally drew the line at me, but Scott is the only exception.

I got into the car and drove to an empty parking lot just outside of the city. He was already there waiting. I got out of the car and he surprisingly shook my hand.

“No threats and promises?” I asked. Dominic shrugged.

“She likes you and I don’t dislike you for her. You’re a better option than I am.” Did not expect that answer…

“Alright.” I updated him on everything that happened last night. The pure rage on his face at the news was a clear example of how much Lilith meant to him- annoying, but comforting.

“It makes sense that they’d look for her,” he said.

“You know where their daughter is?”

“I do.” He answered with a dangerous coldness. I see why those two got along. He has a switch, just like Lilith. He didn’t say where but the protective hand on his trunk gave me all the information that I needed.

“Are they gonna be a problem in the future?”

“I’ll have them taken care of by Friday,” he answered.

“Thank you.”

“Its for our girl. It’s the least I can do.” She’s mine, but I’ll leave it be.

I got back home in a few hours after stopping by the record company for a meeting. I opened the door and was tackled by hands that I really had no interest in being hugged by.

“Scott, get off of me,” I groaned.

“The rabbit bit me,” he complained as he wiped fake tears.

“Did you take her cupcakes?”

“Only one!”

“Then you deserved it. Now get off before she thinks I’m conspiring with you. I don’t want to get bitten too.” I shoved him off and he folded his arms like a child and huffed. I laughed and went over to my girl who sat on the couch with a face full of butterscotch frosting and huddled in my hoodie with her feet tucked inside.

“Are you feeling better?”

She nodded and rubbed her cheek against mine instead of trying to talk with a stuffed mouth. Sometimes I wonder if she really doesn’t realize how much of a rabbit she is.

“I’m leaving before you two eat each other alive. I have a date anyway,” said Scott. Lilith swallowed quickly and scurried over to Scott.

“I’m sorry I bit you,” she muttered. He huffed a laugh and patted her head.

“It’s fine weirdo. I should get going, see yah at the studio V!” he left without another word.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“He’s going on a date? With who? I wonder if I know of her. Is she pretty? Do you think she’s nice? I hope she’s nice.” There’s that growing irritation I originally swallowed and ignored.

“Why do you care?” I asked a little stiffer than I’d planned. She frowned, looked down at her twiddling fingers.

“If she’s nice. I can be her friend and have my first girlfriend.” Never mind, irritation is gone. Gosh she’s cute. My adorable gun-slinging murder rabbit.

“Come here.”

She walked over to me and right into my arms. Right where she was going to be for a long time.

“Bear?”

“Yes Rabbit?”

“Do you think I’m a weirdo?”

“When I first met you I woke up on your couch recovering from getting the hell beat out of me and you gave me fruits and a change of clothes. Then you turned out to be a gentle sweetheart with the biggest heart I’ve ever seen. Until you ended up turning out to be as deadly as the assassins you write about but you have a sweets addiction and the mannerisms of a small rabbit all wrapped into one of the most gorgeous bodies I’ve ever seen and touched.” She looked up at me with wide eyes, I shrugged while stifling a laugh. “No, I think you’re pretty normal.”

She frowned and tried to pull away from me.

“You do think I’m a weirdo. Go away, shoo.” She wiggled out of my hold. She stomped off and I knew just where she was heading, so like usual, I tossed her over my shoulder and took her to our room. Yeah, this little weirdo was all mine, forever.
