I clenched my hand on the cold Oasis can as I was yet again deeply in my thoughts. The same old inner debate I've been having for 3 whole weeks. She couldn't be acting like that for nothing. I knew it. There's forcefully something I'm missing... her eyes.. she wasn't lying, clearly. Mine slowly lifted to my uncle who was devouring his slice of pizza like the pig he is as I sighed shaking my head. What am I missing, they both can't be lying to me.. uncle Aaron is simply not that kind of guy.. but Gwen too !— arg... damn ! I exhaled letting my head fall into my hands. I'm going to burn out any moment with all of this, for 3 weeks it has been the only topic in my minds, and I can't tell it to my parents. Dad is an officer though, he could solve all of this, but it wouldn't result in anything good. It would either turn out that Gwen is a liar or that... my eyes stayed longer on my uncle face as he was scrolling through his phone, I gulped before shaking my head. What the hell am I supposed to do.. this shi is stressing me out...
— You're doubting me Miles. Uncle Aaron suddenly spoke as I squeezed my lips, gulping once again. I couldn't lie though so I nodded. For the first time since this affair started, I was not so sure. At first I completely rejected that idea and wouldn't even consider it but why would Gwen go that far...?
— I do trust you uncle Aaron but Gwen is.. I mean. I sighed, not capable of finishing my sentence as my hands found their way to wipe my face since I didn't notice I was sweating already. His hands went on my shoulder, crossing the table as I looked up.
— It's okay Miles. He nodded. What would you do if she wasn't lying ? He then added taking me aback, I almost gasped as my heart skipped a beat, the atmosphere suddenly becoming way heavier.
— Don't say that.. I tried to laugh it off.
— Just answer Miles. He looked more serious, I gulped again, loosing my ways I couldn't hold his gaze any longer so I looked down my eyes wandering on the table. I started playing with my fingers before I shrugged.
— I... I don't know... I can't believe it you know. I scoffed. It would mean drawing a line on everything we built together as a nephew and uncle, but that's what I did with Gwen you know... It was beyond me, this man just took so good care of me.
— You can, or else you wouldn't be this nervous, you wouldn't consider her words or come so often at mine looking like you're watching after me. You're tryna reassure yourself man. You don't want to believe it but your love for that girl is pushing you to doubt me. He then said as my eyes opened wide. I don't blame you for it though.. his tone now deeper, I raised my eyes to meet his but he had already stood up.
— What you mean ? I asked confused.
— Nothin, come on I gotta show you somethin.. he nodded towards a door as I frowned staying still for a moment. I thought this door was blocked.. he never used it and used to tell me there were ghosts inside. I didn't think much more though and quickly stood up following him to there. He stood in front of it, putting a hand on the handle before looking at it. You ready ? He smirked.
— Just open it already, I rolled my eyes at his poor attempt at doing suspense causing him to chuckle but he didn't waste any more time and opened it after turning the key.
I gulped not knowing what to expect as the light was turned off. He's been living here for all his life from what I recall and I've been visiting him since I'm 7 and remembered the way to go to his alone. But during all those years he never opened the door.
