"Mona."
"It's time."
Venus gritted her teeth and made one last attempt. With a nod of her head, she pointed to the purple, glowing crystal at the end of the staff of Mona's Naginata, which was leaning against the side.
"She could be anywhere on the planet, you don't know how close she is. It just points you in the right direction."
Mona smiled as she strapped the Wakizashi to her back, then put on her red cloak, which safely hid the short sword.
"You're right about that, of course. Maybe I should have taken the crystal from the rabbit?" she winked at Venus, who rolled her eyes.
"Mona, I'm really not in the mood for jokes right now. You're putting yourself in mortal danger. This woman is a ticking time bomb. She's going to kill you." said Venus.
"Don't worry, Vee. I have a solution..."
"And which one would that be?!"
"I trust her."
Venus groaned loudly and theatrically.
"So that great little remedy that Kazuko, Saki, and the others sent after us? Great, Mona! I'm thrilled!" she scoffed, leaning back against Jenny's desk with all the screens and crossing her arms.
Mona replied
"You're too impulsive, Vee." and turned to the door to get her Naginata and tie it on her back.
Venus was about to snap back at how very NOT impulsive she is when she felt a slight tug on her black cargo pants. Jenny, sitting in her desk chair next to her, looked up, and offered her a lolly. Venus sighed, accepted it, and watched her sister first make sure Mona was looking away, then gesture to her
'Let her go, Vee. I put a tracker on the sword and if needed, we'll get her out of there.'
Venus frowned.
"I won't be gone long, see you guys later." said Mona over her shoulder and disappeared without waiting for a reply. Jenny and Venus looked at the empty spot where Mona had been standing a moment ago, then Vee turned her head down to Jenny.
"Clever with the tracker."
Jenny grinned and Venus began unwrapping the lolly.
'Do you think she'll freak out when she recognizes Mona as an Onna-Bugeisha?’ signed Jenny
"She'll do anything to protect this family, Jay. You saw her, back in the wastelands before the Hidden city - it was lucky that YOUR cameras were working, and we could watch everything. Not like mother's cameras..." she sighed.
'Mother's cameras are designed for the Battle Nexus battles -' Jenny pointed out.
"Now don't be so modest, your tech is top-notch."
Jenny sighed and gestured without looking at her sister.
'I know someone whose tech is better.'
Venus watched her sister, who was looking sadly at the ground, and then put a hand on her shoulder.
“Maybe. But yours is good enough for us. Come on, kick on the tracker, so we can get Mona out of there when that madwoman tries to decapitate her." and with those words she popped the lolly into her mouth.
