"The darkness cannot reach meI've sent it far away
I hide within my walls
where all I ever see is day.
I built them tall and sturdy
Cower behind its weight.
There isn't a monster 'round here,
that could ever penetrate.
I've lay here for some years now,
too afraid to go beyond
I got so used to safety
I forgot where I belonged.
Lingering on the bridge between
Two worlds I couldn't fully be.
For in each world I'd toss between
I'd left a part of me.
And locked within those walls I'd built;
A heart as cold as stone,
beating for friends I'd made-up
So I wouldn't feel alone.
But their hugs held little warmth,
Eerily silent do they shout:
"The day you let us in,
you locked your loved ones out".
But rainy nights cloud the pleas,
Of the waking world I stay.
Still too afraid that when it gives,
It'll also take away.
So days I spend in la-la land,
A place away from weep.
And lurk at night, between the worlds,
Cause' dreamers never sleep."
