Fyi, I'll PROBABLY never write smut again nor will I rewrite my previous smut one shots. Why? Because I figured out I'm aromantic-asexual and it made me rethink my whole perspective on love and sex and whatnot.

Toji knew he wasn't good at expressing his feelings, something you sometimes find with emotionally distant folks. He never wanted to be the reason for your doubts or loneliness, especially considering how open-hearted you were.

One evening, you both were just lounging, some mellow jazz setting the mood. You were reminiscing about that time from your childhood when you lost your pet cat. Toji had heard this story a few times, but this evening he saw something new: a tear making its way down your cheek.

Searching for the right words, he finally managed, "I'm really sorry about that." You looked at him, a little taken aback, "You've never mentioned it before." Rubbing the back of his neck, he replied, "Yeah, well... I'm trying."

You could see his effort. It was sort of like watching a big, tough guy trying to handle something super delicate.

As days turned into months, Toji kept pushing himself to get where you were, emotionally speaking. He started reading about feelings and even got you both into a couple's therapy class. One of their sessions talked about love languages. And it hit him: he might not be the best with words, but he was a doer.

One morning, you were greeted by the sound of a blender. Curious, you walked in to see him, looking super focused, trying to whip up your favorite smoothie. Spotting you, he looked like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "I wanted it to be a surprise," he said, a tad embarrassed. Laughing, you teased, "Well, aren't you full of surprises?" He just grinned, looking slightly relieved. As you took a sip, you leaned over, giving him a peck, "This is great, Toji. Thanks."

Another day, after what felt like forever at work, you walked into a cozy scene. The living room had a cute blanket fort, fairy lights, and all your favorite rom-coms. "Figured it's movie night," Toji said, trying to play it cool but looking a tad unsure. Wrapping your arms around him, you whispered, "You're acing this game, aren't you?" And you sealed it with a sweet kiss.

There was this one super stressful week where you were just so done. He picked up on it. So, one evening, as you tried to lose yourself in a book, he silently brought out some essential oils and began to massage your tired shoulders. It was amazing. "Since when did you get this good?" you asked. "Been learning a bit online," he said, sounding quite pleased. Turning to face him, you gave him a grateful kiss, "Thanks, Toji. You always find a way."

The downpour outside would be seen as melancholic by most. Yet, Toji recalled your penchant for raindrops and drizzles. Breathing deeply, he strolled over to where you sat by the window, offering a hand, "Fancy a dance?"

Your laughter pealed as you clasped his hand. Together, you twirled and laughed in the rain, a scene straight out of a classic love story.

Pausing to catch a breath, you leaned in, voice quivering slightly, "Every day, you surprise me with new gestures, showing love in ways words can't capture. And daily, I find myself more smitten." With that, you pressed a lingering kiss, sealing a memory amidst the rainy embrace.

These snippets from their journey together showcased a love that constantly bloomed, defined by effort, empathy, and those tiny gestures which mean everything.

Time rolled on, revealing a more nuanced Toji. The hand-holds lasted a little longer, the interest in your day seemed more genuine, and yes, even the rare jokes (delivered deadpan) made appearances. Though he wasn't as emotionally expressive as you, his efforts didn't go unnoticed. And they meant the world.

In return, you grew to value his consistent, calm nature. His steady presence during life's chaos was your anchor. His verbal affirmations might be scarce, but you never doubted the depth of his love.

One day, a nostalgic piece greeted Toji in the living room: a brand-new rocking chair by the window. Memories of childhood tales shared on their first date flooded back. Seeing his touched expression, you sidled up, smirking, "Thought you might like a trip down memory lane."

Embracing you, he mused, "This is beyond perfect. How about an evening of us trading tales, reminiscing about old times?" His mind was already racing with ideas for his next sweet gesture for you.

The next morning, a vintage comic greeted him at the breakfast table — a prized possession he'd lost years ago. Looking up, eyes wide with surprise, he inquired, "You remembered this?"

With a playful wink, you replied, "Always! And now, you're on the hook for a dramatic reading session while I relish my tea."

Laughing, he responded, "All right, but I might just get you a magnifying glass to complete the setting."

On another day, a quirky spork awaited Toji at his desk, accompanied by a teasing note. "For the man torn between spoon and fork choices during dessert. Love, Y/n."

Laughter erupted as memories of their playful spork debate during an early date came rushing back. "She's always one step ahead," he thought, already plotting his comeback surprise.

One day, Toji walked into their room to spot a tiny box resting on the bed. Curiously, he opened it to find a collection of diminutive tokens – a little boat, a dainty key, a smooth pebble, and a music note charm. Each item was a silent storyteller, reminiscing their shared moments: the boat for their inaugural sail, the key marking their first shared home, the pebble as a keepsake from the beach where he had bent a knee, and the music note echoing their inaugural dance as a couple.

A cascade of memories washed over him. Lifting his gaze, he found you standing there, a gentle smile playing on your lips. "A little something to remember us by," you murmured.

Drawing you into his embrace, he whispered, "You've just set the bar. Now I need to think of how to top this."

You had, without words, conveyed to Toji that love wasn't always about grand cinematic moments; sometimes, it's the understated, heartfelt reminders that resonate the most. This endearing gifting ritual became their little love game, each token a testament to their growing fondness, reminding them of their shared journey.

In their unique way, they proved that love isn't just about big, swoon-worthy gestures. The beauty of their relationship lay in the nuances, the unsaid, and the mutual respect for each other's differences. Their bond was an emblem of how love, when coupled with understanding and effort, can weave the most beautiful tapestry, despite the differences in individual threads.
