There's a lot of things that must remain unknown, and things that's better be unknown. The reason why I stayed out of everybody's businesses is I don't really want to know anything that will compromise me in the end. Like now. . .

I was half expecting nothing, and half expecting that something will really happen. But, I was not expecting to get tangle in a big secrecy of events and my curiosity and satisfaction sated as I stared at this redhead man namely Luke.

This was really 'the unexpected'. As I never indulge in the thought of what Luke look like as I never really given the thought that I might actually see the person. I even had a thought that this will be all over once I was escorted in the clearing and I will never see them again.  Boy, was I wrong.

It seems I am stuck in the middle of something again.

I cleared my throat to try to snap them of their thoughts as I stood there not knowing what to do. Denv has his this vacant and blank look with eyes glowing with a tinge of yellow. Luke is just staring at the road we came from, probably, lost it thought too. And here I am with arms around Denvs hold, standing with a pounding heart, bells ringing, and red flags waving around.

I was really in a dipshit.

A tugged on my arm snap me on my train of thoughts as he gently pushed me forward urging me to walk in a hurried manner. We passed Luke who, until now, has that deep expectant look staring at the road we came from.  Denv, remained silent, and I had to bite my tongue to prevent myself from blurting questions that's been swarming on my mind.

If Cassey is looking for his Mate, why was she not running towards Luke who's ten meters away from her?, It was impossible for them not to smell each other in that radius being a werewolf and a strong alpha at that. Not unless, Cassey is the one doing the 'avoiding', scattering her scent all over, messing the trackers to avoid being found. And her asking for Luke is just her way of buying time or will give her an idea to where's Luke at to avoid him. And I can't help looking back at where we came from.

"A penny of your thoughts." Denv spoke waking me from my reverie with a look that's waiting for me to say or ask something. Not that he'll answer everything thought, and not that I want to know. Of course I want to know. . .

"Not much." I answered with a finality, hinting for an end of the conversation. This events got me really on edge, I was dragged in an event that doesn't really involve and concern me. And this gawning feeling that something was really wrong keeps building.

We continued walking with a forced comfortable silence, his hands still latch on my arm with a gentle but firm manner and me tugging my arm out of his hold from time to time. He never spoke a word again, probably sensing that I don't really want to delve in their situation.

I sighed as I saw we're close to the clearing. But instead of gladness, the feeling of uneasiness creeped up. I was supposed in joy that we're on the clearing, my game is coming close to an end. But it seems I'm forgetting something. I stopped walking, giving myself time to think and Denv stared at me with a questioning look.

"I think I should stay here for a while." I said rather to myself. The clearing in sight and I can hear footsteps and murmurs around us. Some of them must have been waiting for sunrise. .

Sunrise. . .

Realization kicks in and I froze.  The mated and claimed can go back earlier but the game for the unclaimed and unmated will end at sunrise. And looking at the sky and the clearing, it was still far from sunrise.

But instead.

"Come on now."  Denv tugged my arms with a little force this time. "Don't make me drag you to the clearing. Or perhaps you prefer me carrying you." A mischievous smile appeared on his face. Of course, he was joking.

"It's still far from sunrise, It's best if we . ."

"I know" He interjected too fast to my liking. "And sunrise is fast approaching, now shall we?" He tugged me once again but I remained firm on the ground.

"You know what it means walking out of here together."

He gave me his goofy grin holding both of my hands as he said "Yes. I'm taking you to North"

I scoffed. "You're kidding, aren't you?" Freeing my hands from his hold. "You're not taking me to be your mate."

That's what I'm sure. As the little time we spent together walking, one thing I'm sure about him is he doesn't have that interest in me. I clearly felt that he's not that interest in me.

"Taking you out of the clearing doesn't really mean that I'm  claiming you. But it does mean, one thing though." With a factual tone he said but a warm smile grazed his face. "I'm taking you to North."

"Stop jesting." I said. Unbelievable.

North. Is a warrior pack. Even an Omega, considered the lowest and weakest knows how to fight. The North is the King's army, the King's loyal man. The protector of the weak, they said. The North still upheld the old and original traditions of wolves. And in the old traditions of wolves, the wolfless. . .

"No. You won't." I took another step back. "I'm human. Not. . ."

"Still a wolfless." He exasperate. "I'm glad you're educated in the old customs. I don't need to explain it."

"But I'm human Denv. A human. We really don't have a wolf." I tried to explain, trying to remain strong. But my voice betrays me by cracking at the same time my tears fell.

The weariness and stress catching up on me. I just want to go home and lay down on my bed and forget all about this.

"Hssshhhh" Denv cooed like pacifying a child, not  knowing what to do as I stared at him wide-eyed, tears streaming, fear-stricken face. "You'll be safe." He took a step forward and I took a step back. Shaking my head.

"I'm safe on my pack. I don't really need you to take me to North." But he just looked at me, with palm spread wide urging me to take his hand.

Adrenalines running to my veins. My heart is beating too fast I'm sure he heard it. Sweat broke on my back and my mind is screaming.

Run Run Run Run

I know they said Do not run, Wolves love the chase.

All I heard was a loud snarl, ripping of clothes and paws pounding the ground.

But I continued running anyway.
