Astraea woke up feeling excited and hopeful, having just applied and accepted for an interview to a journalism company in New York, she hoped to move to in order to be closer to family. As she left to celebrate this accomplishment, she quickly texted her friend Callie, telling her all about the opportunity. She felt a rush of adrenaline as the anticipation of a new chapter in her life built up inside her, and couldn't wait to start exploring the possibilities of what the future might hold.
She quickly rushed into a nearby café to order herself a coffee and croissant, all the while texting on her phone to share the good news about her interview. As she looked up from her phone, she noticed someone staring at her, and felt herself growing warm from the sudden attention she finally recognized Magnus, the guy she met the other day on the train. She felt her heart flutter a little as she remembered their encounter but also was shy and a bit flustered, given that his intense gaze felt so strong and overpowering. She wanted to say hello, but her words kept getting stuck in her throat as her mind raced with possibilities, and she felt herself getting redder and redder.
Despite her initial shyness and embarrassment from her moment of surprise at seeing Magnus, Astraea quickly got over her blushes and got up to head over to him, deciding to take a seat right across from him. She felt a rush of adrenaline come over her as she did so in a confident and almost defiant move. She smiled at him a little, waiting for him to say something to break the awkward silence that followed.
Astraea, awkwardly, starts the conversation
"Uhh, hi... Magnus? Right?"
Magnus answers with a short and simple "Right."
"Oh, yeah. We met the train station the other day... I was kind of hoping that you might remember..."
"Of course... I remember you."
Taken back, she takes a second to answer "Oh, good, I mean that's... awesome."
"Yup."
"Well, this is a funny coincidence."
"Yeah."
"So... what are you up to?"
"Oh, just getting coffee"
"Right, yeah. Okay, so... this might be really random, but, um. Could I maybe... get your phone number? It's just, you're like really cool. I don't want to lose track of you again."
"Yeah. I guess you could have my number, if you want."
"Thank you." she answers with a wide smile
"No problem."
"Alright, well, I better be going now. I need to get to my interview. Thank you for the number, Magnus, but I should really be running off now." Astraea took note of his one word answers and dismissed his distant behavior towards her.
As she started walking off she pulled up the location of "The New Times" Although Astraea was confident about the interview, she couldn't help but feel a tinsy bit nervous
"Deep breaths, deep breaths... Got to calm myself down, or I'll crash and burn and fuck everything up in there."
She takes a deep breath and walks to the building, feeling a mixture of emotions. On one hand, she was anxious and nervous, wondering if everything would go well and if she would get the job. On the other hand, she felt excited at the prospect of finally getting the chance to interview for the role she had always dreamt about, and feeling ready to do her best and impress the people who would listen to her.
As she enters the building she heads to the reception and, nervous but determinedly, introduces herself "Hi... My name is Astraea, and... I'm here for the interview?"
The receptionist answers with a small smile seemingly expecting her, "Yes, I have you on my list. Please come with me."
The Receptionist begins to lead Astraea to the office of the head manager, where the interview would take place. It was happening, and she couldn't help but feel a rush of both nervous energy and excitement.
After the interview, which lasted barely an hour, Astraea could not help but feel relieved. The head manager had turned out to be quite an affable guy, and he had asked a variety of questions about her fast experiences and resume. Thinking back to their conversation, Astraea could not help but feel hopeful about the prospect of landing the job. Nothing was certain at this point, but the thought of achieving her dream was so exciting that she almost couldn't contain herself.
