Chapter 30

When Mikasa and Peter are walking, they meet up with Hitch, who is still guarding Annie's cell. Peter asks, "Annie hasn't woken up yet?"

"Ever since she got into the cell, she hasn't woken up." Hitch sighs. "Four years, to think she becomes such a sleeping beauty. By the way, have you heard the news?"

Hitch shows them the newspaper, and Peter says, "Military Clings to Power by Wrongfully Detaining Eren Jaeger and Aya Neumann... Distrust in the Military Soars Higher..."

"Because they're not giving the public any answers." Hitch says.

"Well, they can't disclose Zeke and the Rumbling..." Peter responds.

As they enter the courtyard at military headquarters, they see protesters outside the compound. "Only Eren and Aya can save Eldia!" "Yeager and Neumman are the only ones who avenge the eaten!" "The New Eldian Empire needs Eren Yeager and Aya Neumann."

"Hey, Hitch! Lend us a hand!" Then Hitch is taken away, and both Mikasa and Peter decide to visit Queen Dina.

Yelena is sitting on the balcony with Pixis. Several Garrison troops are standing behind them while they face the forest and the mountains. "That day, I did go to meet Eren and Aya." Yelena began.

"Oh?" Pixis chimes with interest.

"I'm sorry for keeping quiet about it. That's enough reason to detain the volunteers." She continues.

"How kind of you to admit." Pixis comments, retaining a relaxed and calm attitude.

"The way I saw it, you guys didn't know the world. If you kept arguing and putting it off, it would be too late. Eren and Aya felt the same sense of urgency, too." Yelena says.

"So, you convinced the Scouts to infiltrate Marley alone to get our military moving?" Pixis asks.

"Not quite. I said someone needed to light a fire under the administration." She responds.

"That's all you said?" He asks. "You risked a secret meeting without discussing any concrete plans?" His tone is still calm but curious.

"That's right." Yelena answers. "Given our positions, we weren't allowed to meet with him in public."

"But the risk was worth it for you." Pixis concludes. "You succeeded in manipulating the scouts just as Zeke hoped you would."

"What would be the point in that?" Yelena's calm expression breaks as her eyes widen and she leans forward, her tone far more fiery and less composed. "All I wanted was for Eren Yeager and Aya Neumann to know who I was!" She declares.

Pixis' expression changes to one of surprise as she speaks, but Yelena then composes herself. He casts a glance toward the soldier standing behind him. Yelena grabs the nearby cup of tea and takes a drink while Pixis watches.

Yelena begins again, returning to her calm tone. "No... We wanted Eren's Founding Titan and Aya's power to crush Marley into dust." Her expression is a bit sadder now. "Just like we hoped, they inflicted heavy damage on Marley. No... They exceeded expectations. They delivered the divine retribution we wished upon Marley for years. For them to achieve such things is proof they possess the Founder. Commander Pixis, do you know what we're witnessing? History is about to change before our eyes. Two brothers and a girl are reshaping the world. I simply want to see it happen from their side."

Pixis then finally responds. "In other words, the main reason you met Eren and Aya was out of curiosity?"

"Essentially. The other volunteers don't know I secretly met Eren." She says. "My actions were reckless. It's true that I deceived you guys, but I did it for the sake of Eldia."
