Under the warm rays of the sun, Gracie and Amelie sat against the weathered stones of an abandoned water fountain in the heart of their city.

The fountain, once the centrepiece of a bustling square, had been forgotten over the years, its once sparkling waters now long dried up. Gracie, with her nimble fingers, meticulously tied a vibrant friendship bracelet around Amelie's wrist, her concentration unbroken as she weaved the threads into an intricate pattern.

"Gracie, why are you making this bracelet?" Amelie asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

Gracie looked up with a soft glint in her eyes. "It's a promise bracelet," she replied. "A special one. If we're both still single by the time we turn twenty, we'll get married right here, by this old fountain."

Amelie's eyes widened in surprise, a rosy blush creeping up her cheeks. "Oh... Are you serious?" she stammered, her heart fluttering.

Gracie's grin only widened. "Absolutely. It'll be our backup plan if we can't find anyone else."
