Everyone starts saying various things along the lines of 'omg what' and 'I never would've thought'
Me and Charlie however both shout: WE KNEW IT
Tao and Elle laugh and put their heads against eachother.
Me and nick smile at eachother from across the table and then me and Charlie finally sit back down in our seats
Nick: everything ok with Charlie?
Y/N: yeah, everything's fine
I smile at him and he seems to be satisfied enough with my answer and he puts his arm around me
The night continues, and the air of happiness doesn't damper at all, Charlie messages me from across the table and says

Charlie: he replied.

Ben: are you kidding?! I've treated you better than you deserve
Charlie: no, you've treated me like crap and I'm done standing for it
Ben: fine. Talk to you when you come crawling back
Charlie: don't delude yourself Ben
Ben: don't delude yourself into thinking you can be without me
Charlie: no delusion required, just common sense
Ben: you'll regret this

Charlie: I'm proud of me too, thank you for helping me stand up to him, don't know where I'd be without you.
Just then the deserts come out, but before I eat mine I decide an actual trip to the bathroom is necessary, so, as it turns out, does tao, as we end up walking to the toilets together
Y/N: Im really happy for you and Elle
Tao: and I GUESS I'm happy for you and nick as well
Y/N: thanks tao
Tao: I've denied it as long as I could but he's a nice guy, I can't believe I'm trusting him with you
Y/N: he's a great guy, you don't need to worry about him
Tao: even so, you're my friend y/n, and part of me still sees nick as a rugby lad like Harry, I know he's not but you just get used to seeing people in a certain way
Y/N: yeah i get that, and if Nick ever gives you reason to, I give you my permission to give him a full telling off
Nick: well I'm hoping I don't ever give him reason to
I jump a little, I hadn't noticed Nick catch us up on route to the bathrooms
Nick: hey congrats man, I'm happy for you and Elle
Tao: thanks... I'm happy for you and y/n too
To my surprise they exchange a not all that awkward hug
Tao: but If you ever hurt I swear to god-
Nick: she's in safe hands
Tao: she better be
