"Hey im Scott." He said.

Oh. My. God.

Standing next to me was my second favorite director.

Number one is Greta Gerwig, obviously.

"Hi, im y/n." I said, trying to sound casual.

"Who are you here with?" He asked.

"Uhm, Miguel. Miguel Mora." I replied.

"Oh i know him. He's a great guy." He said.

"Yeah i know." I replied.

"How do you know him?" He asked.

He looked at me.

"Uhm.. he's my boyfriend." I said.

"Oh really?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Wait then you must be y/n?" He said in a questioning tone.

"Yep." I replied.

"Miguel told me some stuff about you." He said.

This dude. Istg.

"What stuff?" I asked.

"He told me how pretty he thinks you are and he told me about your life. He also told me you want to be an actress." He said.

"He told you that?" I asked.

"Yeah. Is it not true?" He asked.

"Yes, it's definitely true but i just.. i just can't." I said.

"Why can't you?" He asked.

"My parents don't want me to be an actress, and they mean the world to be so i feel like i just.. can't." I said.

"What if your parents were supportive of you being an actress?" He asked.

"Id already be an actress. I would've already been an actress for ages." I said.

"What about if it was filmed in your home state? Maybe even town?" He said.

"I mean, i think they'd allow me to audition but I don't know." I replied.

"Do you live in florida?" He asked.

"Uh- yeah. Why do you know that?" I asked.

"No I didn't know but im uhm. Im filming a movie in Florida next summer." He said.

I looked at him.

"Maybe i could put in a good word for you." He said.

"Why would you do that?" I asked.

"Because i want to give you a chance. A chance to be who you want to be. I think everyone should get a chance at that." He said.

"I think your a good guy." I replied.

I looked at him and smiled.

He smiled back.

"Ill send you everything you need to know about the audition and production. Could i get your email?" He asked.

"Oh yeah! Its y/n.y/l/n@email.com." I said.

He got out his phone and put in my email.

"I have to ask tho, do you have any acting experience?" He asked.

God. Im not able to answer this AND get the role.

"Uhm, I've done theater at my school for the past 2 and a half years. And i was an extra in a tv show filmed there this summer." I said.

"So your experienced but not really experienced." He replied.

"Yeah, basically." I said.

"I think if you get the role, you could become a great thing."

I felt tears in my eyes, happy tears.

I didn't let them get out but they were there.

Who cares what my parents want when a great director and great actors think im a good actor?

I don't.

I don't care what they want anymore.

Im auditioning.

Im auditioning and I don't care if that means they disown me.

Mason got off the carpet and walked towards us, making me snap out of my thoughts.

"Hey Scott!" He said.

"Hey Mason!" Scott replied.

"How have you been lately?" He added.

"Oh I've been great!" Mason replied.

"Uh hey guys i have to go to the bathroom ill be right back." I said.

I walked a few steps away.

"Alright have fun." Mason said.

I turned around.

"Have fun!?" I said.

"I don't know." He replied.

I shook my head no and walked away.

I walked to the bathrooms and got into a stall.

I got out my phone and called my mom.

It rang for a few seconds and then went to voicemail.

I left a message.

"Mom, im done. Im done letting you control my future. Scott Derrickson, the director of the black phone and doctor strange, told me he'd put in a good word for me for a new movie he's working on. He's sending me everything i need to know about auditioning for it later and im gonna do it. I don't care what you think. I don't care what you want. Im done. Im becoming an actress."
