Abandoned Silo

21 1 2

you're climbing
the abandoned silo ladder;
every grasped rung a step closer
to the stars.

gravity like a weighted blanket
upon my shoulders,
and I'm watching from the floor.

once you reach the top
you silently take in the view.
I called up to you, asked what
the stars looked like;
I couldn't hear your reply.

I'd climb up to you but
I'm too scared
to leave the ground; in your kindness
you descend from your tower

and toss me a rope;
pull me up,
we sit atop the hollow silo together
and watch the stars turn.
