SAPPHIRE

"Sapphire." A hand shook me really hard. I groaned before turning to my left side and covering my ears with my arm.

"Wake up Sapphire. Its urgent." I recognised this voice. It belonged to my best friend who also happened to be the owner of this room.

"Please Theo, let me sleep." I begged in my sleepy voice but before I knew, he snatched the blanket off me, leaving me cold and irritated. Opening my eyes, I gave him a hard glare and ordered him to give me my blanket back.

"Have you watched the news?" he looked worried as he searched for the remote of the LCD.

"For your kind information, I can't switch the channels in my dreams." I rolled my eyes and watched him while he frantically turned the TV on; his actions made me anxious.

"What are you---" My voice lost somewhere in my throat when my eyes zeroed in on the LCD.

"The firefighters are still trying to control the fire and evacuate the house as early as possible. As per reports, there were two people inside, a man and a woman. The residents of the neighbouring house said that a couple live here, there names were Roman Knight and Sapphire Carson. Its highly probable that they are the ones stuck inside."

Theo shut the TV but my eyes didn't move. I tried to speak but couldn't, my throat felt constricted and my legs felt like they have lost all the power.

It is not happening.

It is not happening.

For God's sake, it is not happening.

"Take me there." I requested Theo, my voice sounded emotionless to my own ears, despite the ache in my heart.

"I don't think you should---"

"Just take me there Theo. Please!" I begged, controlling the tears that threatened to leak out of my eyes. Theo looked towards Zac and a silent conversation took place between them, after which Theo sighed and conceded at last.

The whole drive, I had to use extra strength to breathe because my lungs seemed to have stopped working. There was this strange, nauseating feeling in my stomach that urged me to puke but I refused to do so.

"May you both die in your precious house!"

It didn't take us long to reach there and when we did, all I could see was smoke; thick clouds that covered the house that used to be mine just few hours ago.

I exited the car and passed through the crowd to reach the front, with Theo still following me. My eyes anxiously looked around and stopped when they landed on the almost charred body on the stretcher. The police was covering the face of the pale brunette with a white clothe.

Theo went to the police and talked to them about God knows what. I didn't care because all my attention was focused on that girl lying under the white cloth.

"May you both die in your precious house!"

"No. No. No. This can't be happening." I yelled at nobody in particular and dashed towards the house, trying to cross the temporary fence that they had built around the house.

"Ma'am, you can't go inside." A man dressed in a blue unifrom tried to stop me, his hold on my arm tightened.

"Let me go. Just let me go. Please." I wailed, fighting my tears but he had gripped my hand really strong. "Please!" I almost begged him but he didn't listen. Instead, he passed me to another man, Theo, who wrapped his arm around my waist.
