Harry stares at the garishly wrapped package on her bed. Cautiously she pokes it with a finger, only for the paper to rip and expose the contents. Shaking her head, Harry picks up the package and finishes unwrapping it, to reveal a silvery fabric sized for a human. Though, the amount of void energy she can sense would suggest that it's something else. Pulling out a scanner, she drapes the fabric over a chair and scans it. Yep, void energy, almost identical to that used by Invara in fact. Probably useful for her Operator, but not that useful at the moment.
Grabbing some books, Harry makes her way down to the common room to do some revision on what they were doing before Christmas. There he finds Hermione staring at a book in consternation.
"Hey Hermione, what's up?"
Hermione looks up before picking up the offending book and lobbing it at Harry, "It's this book."
Deftly, Harry catches the book, "Hogwarts a History? This was your favourite book."
"That book is a stinking pile of trash. The author is heavily biased, and not only misrepresents facts from other books, but also outright fabricates stories that are contradicted in earlier editions."
Tossing the book onto a table, Harry goes over to hug Hermione, "What brought this on?"
Hermione materialises an Orokin computer and concentrates to pull up a 1st edition copy of Hogwarts a History, "I scanned this in the library before Christmas, but I didn't think to scan my own books." A second panel opens up next to it, "This is a comparative of this edition with the one by Bathilda Bagshot, red text has been removed, green added, and strike through changed. I didn't even realise it was a copy, as the original is titled 'An Abridged history of the Founders and their School.' From 1383."
"Hermione, what happened?"
Hermione sniffles into Harry's side, wishing that warframes could cry, "Oh, it's horrible. I traded scans of the library here to Cephalon Simaris for unlimited credit in his store. It only took me the time between when we returned and Christmas to do 70% of the library. He sent me the digital translations of the older books and a program to translate new scans, and compare them to existing works. I scanned this overnight and I can't believe they're lying like this. It's not even lying like the Corpus and Grineer do, where they leave out bits of information, or phrase things in a way that make them look better. This is outright fabrication and revision of history."
"What are you going to do about it?"
"I don't know, what can I do?"
"You tell me, you're 18 now."
Hermione slumps, "Don't remind me. I listened to Padma and Lavender last night before curfew, and their gossiping makes even less sense now than it did before Christmas. Anyway, what about you and Kitty?"
Harry laughs, "She's getting used to being the general dogsbody, not quite what they had in mind, but she's helping Anna with the reception, and filling in as a dental assistant when one of the other two are out."
Hermione clips him around the head, "I meant your relationship."
"That, is between the two of us."
"Arse."
"Yep, now what are you going to do about the books?"
Hermione sighs, "I'm going to talk to Minerva first, as we're the only ones that can read the translations at the moment."
"There you go, you've got the first step of an idea."
