For almost a full year Iñaki was gone. He told me he couldn't text that much but we always called around 9.
It doesn't matter was time it was there he would always call me at 9pm on the dot. And we would just talk. We would talk for hours.
Today wasn't different from any other. I waited and waited for the clock to struck 9. I felt my phone buzz and I opened it immediately. I saw Iñakis contact name pop up and quickly answered it
"Hey." Iñaki said waving to me
"Hi" I said getting comfortable in my bed
"So what happened today."
"Oh I'm just work and...stuff. Oh you won't believe what happened today actually." Iñaki said making me sit up in my bed
"What?"
"So apparently I figured out this one girl in our cast has a likes me." Iñaki said making me feel weird
I didn't know why but hearing that made a pit rest in the bottom of my stomach
"Oh. Really?"
"Oh yeah and might I say...she doesn't look half bad." Iñaki said making the bit more from my stomach to grow up to my throat and mouth giving it a bitter taste
"What's wrong?" Iñaki asked I guess noticing that something was wrong. I never took him as I guy who could read someone
"Nothing. I'm just tired cause I stayed up later then usual last night." I lied through my teeth
"Ah. Well I'm actually going to be coming back home earlier then I was supposed to and you will get to see my project in august 31st." Iñaki said with his dumb smile
"How early?"
"Well...in about a month I'll be back."
"Okay..." I said thinking about what I could do in about a month. I could eat better. Study harder. Work out more.
"Kiki come on their calling for you." A girls voice said in the call
"I've got to go, bye [Name]" Iñaki said before I could even say bye back hung up.
I scolded myself for thinking that I would do all those things for a guy. I don't even know why I did it. Then Kasey opened the dorm room making me jump up
"Kasey, I've got a question." I said leaning on the edge of my bed
"Hit me."
"So what does it mean when you get really mad when a guy you've been friends with for a little over a year talks about a girl liking him and you start getting thoughts to change yourself for what ever reasons." I said before Kasey slowly started to erupt into laughter
"Wait...wait is this that Iñaki dude you told me about in the beginning of the year?" She asked wiping away a fake tear from her face
"Yeah...why?" I asked moving down off my bed
"Wait are you being for real?" Kasey asked trying to stifle some giggling but failing
"Yeah so what? Just tell oh my god!" I said trying to stop her from laughing so much that she doesn't tell me
"I think that mean you like him. Did you not ever like anyone growing up or something?" Kasey said before full on bending over backwards laughing at me
"Well I did but I haven't liked anyone since my freshman year of highschool so I don't know. Anyways this is different then high school it's college." I said trying to pick Kasey back but failing
"Okay? But you didn't realize till I had to tell you that you have a massive crush on a dude your friends with?" Kasey said still lying on the floor laughing in between each word
"How did you know?" I asked moving back into my bed
"Oh please you guys call every night from 9 to like 11 before you have to go to sleep and he's the one who calls you and if you never looked it is around 1 in the morning when he calls you so that means he stays up super late to call you. I don't think you should be caring about a girl who...likes him?" Kasey asked not remember what I said
"Yeah. But what if he's like that will all his friends." I asked pushing my head into a pillow
"Then ask him." Kasey said getting onto her bed
"Oh yeah and how do you want me to do that? "Oh hey Iñaki so I was just wondering if you felt the same way about me or do you just treat all your friends like you want to hold them" huh?"
"Well that's not how I would do it but you know, you do your own thing I guess." Kasey said making herself laugh
"No but like. How do I really know if he likes me, cause from what I've heard from other people he's just kinda of nice to everyone."
"Well ask him. Or if you really feel like it ask someone he's friends with and see if he's brought you up in any conversations, and it to be nice. A lot of guys will talk about who they like to their friends." Kasey said as it finally clicked for me
"Wait...I don't know anyone he's with." I said thinking my plan has been squashed
"Wait you don't know?" Kasey said making me look up confused
"Know what?"
"Haven't you heard of one piece?" Kasey asked me making me even more confused
"I've heard of it why..."
"Well their making a live action."
"And this is important to me why?"
Kasey then showed me her phone to show a picture of Iñaki who was apparently playing Luffy, who was this random guy from an anime
My jaw was on the floor
I mean he might have wanted to keep this a surprise...I don't care
I texted him almost immediately "Dude you never told me you were going to South Africa to film a show"
And as me and Kasey continued to talk about this my phone started to buzz
