I grabbed my phone turning it on to see that Iñaki was calling. I look over at Kasey "what I do?"
"Answer it! And put it on speaker." Kasey said the last part not as serious more in a joking matter
I answered the call and put it on speaker
"Hello?" I asked a bit of awkward silence after I spoke
"Hi! So um how'd you find out?" Iñaki said through the phone making me and Kasey look at eachother
"Um my roommate told me."
A slight laugh was heard on the other end as Iñaki continued to speak "well I was trying to surprise you, you know?"
"Oh did you?"
"Yeah, I wanted to come back and watch it with you so you can see." Iñaki said sounding a bit disappointed
"Oh..well I'm surprised I guess but it's not like you were hiding something like would...like scare me?" I said not really knowing what to say here
"Oh no I would never want to scare you in any way." Iñaki said sounding a bit worried
"Yeah...well it did surprise me if that's what you wanted to hear." I said getting a slight laugh in response
"It is...listen, it is very late right now and I've got something to do in the morning. Can I see you later?" Iñaki asked, me not thinking a second thought of it
"Sure, I forget we have different time zones." I said laughing a bit awkwardly as I saw Kasey giving me so many looks
"Yeah, goodnight [Name]." Iñaki said as I returned the goodbye and hung up
"What?" I asked setting my phone down
"Didn't you hear him? "See you later." Like come on doesn't that sound suspicious?" Kasey asked grabbing her pillow and hugging it as she sat
"So? That could mean anything, like FaceTiming, or texting, or calling. What are you hinting at." I asked slightly annoyed since she keeps on taking me down farther into this rabbit hole
"Because what if he is talking about coming home tonight!" Kasey said leaning forward in her bed almost falling out
I rolled my eyes, Iñaki was gone for two years. TWO YEARS. I feel like he would have called me celebrating that he is coming home and everything and telling me when I should pick him up from the airport
He'd be like a kid on Christmas trying to go to sleep but not going to bed until 3 in the morning.
"No, he would have told me. And plus didn't you here he would be back in a month. Why and how would he be able to go tonight. And he wouldn't even be here tomorrow the flights about 21 hours." I said making Kasey roll her eyes
"I'm just saying he could, stop being so negative." Kasey said flipping her back onto the bed staring at the ceiling
"I'm just trying to say it impossible." I said before me and kasey fell into a uncomfortable silence
"Yeah...I guess. Or what if he's already on a plane and called you just in time before he was about to land." Kasey said shooting back up
"I wish." I said causing me and Kasey to laugh slightly before sighing in unison. "Do you have something for this guy?" Kasey asked making me look up confused
"Oh no." I said shaking my head laughing
"Are you sure? You called almost everyday and I've caught you many times looking at pictures of him on your camera roll." Kasey said folding her arms
"One. We're friends we talk a lot. Two. Why are watching what I do on my phone?" Said my nose crinkling in confusion
"Oh come on, it's hard not to when I come back and see you on your camera roll and hear you giggling while looking at the same picture of Iñaki for five minutes." Kasey said making my face warm up
"...well I miss him."
"No offense [Name] but I've never seen someone miss a guy that much that they look at pictures of them on their phone and their "just friends."
"Well...shit, I don't know." I said groaning as I slammed my face into the pillow
"I mean he's a nice guy and all but I don't know if I want to date him...he's cute and super sweet and smart but I don't know." I said moving my head to look at Kasey
"Welp I don't really know how to help you figure out if you like him, just like...let it simmer or something and then figure out if you want to date him or not." Kasey said making my shove my face back in my pillow
"Yeah but like how?" I asked a little muffled
"Well, see how you act around him. Do you ever get nervous or does your heart beat real fast?" Kasey asked making me think
"I haven't seen him in two years, I have no idea!" I said flinging my arms around my face still buried in the pillow
"Well when he comes...maybe a month from now, or tomorrow. Ask yourself if you act different around him when you see him." Kasey making my pull my head away from the pillow and pausing
"Okay...that could work." I said a small smile forming on my face
"I know, I'm some what of a genius." Kasey said smirking making my smile drop as I say back up on my bed
"So...quick hypothetical question if you and Iñaki get together could you perhaps let me join you on some things?" Kasey said making my face turn a light pink
"Kasey!" I said a bit flustered as kaseys face grew "just a hypothetical question man!" Kasey responds as I throw a pillow at her face from my bed
I lay back down on my pillow as I stare at the ceiling. Kasey then turns off the lights making me dart my eyes over to her. "Sorry I didn't know you were having a moment but I'm tired." Kasey said as she climbed back on her bed
I rolled my eyes and turned over my back facing Kasey as I drifted off to sleep...
