Timeline: Before Marcus joins Knight Security

Marcus~

Marcus had cleaned his tray in record time, placing it on the stack to be washed without having to dump any leftovers into the trash. He had a meeting in a little less than twenty minutes with his team and was pressed for time, but he'd never miss a meal.

His teammate appeared in the doorway, scanning the crowd of enlisted men in the chow hall until his eyes landed on Marcus.

"The hell are you doin?" Link asked, in disbelief as if he didn't already know the answer to that question.

"I was fuckin starvin'" Marcus scoffed as he quickly joined Link and headed toward the building where their intelligence brief was being held.

"I heard if this goes well, we're heading out tomorrow night." Link said, picking up the pace of their steps to make up time.

"Seriously?"

Marcus was always ready for action and felt the corner of his mouth lift into a small smirk at the idea of combat. He was one hell of a sniper and his team was in their prime. This special mission was going to be dangerous, but Marcus could feel his adrenaline start to pump with excitement.

The two rounded the corner, their steps hard and fast, too fast to avoid running into someone on the other side.

"Shit." Marcus grunted as he ran into someone. Not just someone a woman. An insanely beautiful woman.

"Holy shit." He muttered as he made eye contact with the red headed woman who looked down right pissed.

"It's fine." She snapped, pulling backwards without looking at him in the face.

She straightened her clothes that were not government issued and huffed out an irritated breath as she knelt down and picked up some papers that had fallen out of her hands. Without saying a word or lifting her eyes to look at Marcus, she stood and side stepped him, continuing on her path.

Both Marcus and Link turned their heads, entranced by the gorgeous woman who seemingly wanted nothing to do with them.

"There's no way she's enlisted." Link said beneath his breath.

A civilian?

"Whoa hey wait a minute. Where ya headed honey?" Marcus hollered out with all the confidence in the world.

The woman stopped in her tracks and slowly turned over her shoulder. She took one look at Marcus, letting her eyes travel down his body all the way to his feet before they bounced back up to his face.

"Anywhere that you're not." She sassed in response, a satisfied grin on her face.

Placing a hand on his chest, Marcus feigned an injury at her harsh words, wincing as if she'd verbally wounded him.

"Oh come on, you don't even know me."

Dropping her shoulders with a sigh, the woman placed a hand on her hip and gave Marcus an unamused look.

"Thanks kind of the point. Why would I tell you where I was going? I don't even know you." She whipped her head as she turned, her red flowing ponytail tossing over her shoulder as she dismissed him and continued on her way.

A sly grin spread across Marcus' face as she turned and he quickly jogged to catch up with her, cutting her off in a matter of seconds.

"My name's Marcus. My team calls me Mac." Marcus said, trying to exude every ounce of charisma he possessed as he extended his hand to her.
