Months passed. Gray and Donald were now twelve years old and Silver was seven years old. Silver recognized the date of his mother's death. On that day, he skipped school and took the bus to Yeowon Elementary School before school started. He waited by the front gates.

"Silver?" Donald asked when he noticed his friend there. "Why are you here?"

"Skip school today," Silver ordered in the most serious tone Donald had ever heard him speak in. "Let's go to the hospital and see Auntie. She's...she's not doing too well,"

Donald agreed. He and Silver rushed over to the hospital and to Sua's room. Donald sat beside her and held her hand. "Mom?"

Sua managed to open her eyes and turned her head to see her son. "Donald? Shouldn't...you be at...school?"

"School doesn't matter right now," Donald's voice broke. "You matter to me, Mom,"

Sua smiled weakly. "I'm sorry...Donald..."

Donald forced himself to smile. "What are you apologizing for? I'm fine, Mom,"

"I wish I could've seen you wearing...uniforms like all the big kids..." Sua used her remaining strength to caress Donald's cheek. "I love you Donald...I love you very much..."

Silver wanted Sua to also acknowledge him, but he restrained himself. He knew he wasn't this world's Donald Na and wasn't the son of Sua Lee, but it still hurt. He knew that this world's Sua Lee wasn't his mother, but he still couldn't help but see her as his own mother. He had already lost his mother once in his own world and now he had lost her a second time.

Sua's hand fell limp to the side. Donald called out for his mom as he sobbed. Silver couldn't help but also weep. Both of them wished for Sua to wake up and live, but their wishes were left unanswered.

Apparently there was a lack of communication between the nurses and the people on the next shift didn't know that Donald had already known his mother had passed away. The nurses weren't able to get into contact with Donald's stepfather and instead informed Donald's homeroom teacher.

Donald attended school like a robot, ignoring Seungjae and the other bullies' taunting while going about his normal work-study duties. On the day of the retest, Mr. Jeong informed Donald of his mother's passing. It was then that Donald realized Mr. Jeong had purposely waited to tell him until right before the retest.

Out of spite, Donald scored a perfect score on the retest. Seungjae and his mother still couldn't accept that Donald had beaten him and still accused him of cheating. The bullying became worse and after Seungjae destroyed the notes that Sua had given Donald, Donald finally snapped and beat his bullies up.

Mr. Jeong was furious and when he attempted to slap Donald, Donald smacked his arm away. Donald glared at him and pointed out how the sorry excuse for a teacher had purposely waited two days after Sua's death to inform him, although Donald had been by Sua's side when she had passed away. Donald called the teacher out on his asshole behavior, stabbed the screwdriver into the table, and then left.

"I guess Donald never considered us to be his friends," Gray said sadly. "He cut contact with us. We don't know where he lives and he doesn't have a cell phone. I wanted us to be there for him to comfort him because that's what friends do,"

"He's just hurting," Silver told him. "He does consider us to be friends, Gray," 'Why is he isolating himself like this? If I had become friends with Gray in my childhood, I had always thought that I'd go down a different path. Is Donald going to go down the same violent path I did in my world?'

'For now,' He angrily clenched a fist. 'I'll give him the benefit of a doubt. He's just still trying to deal with his grief on his own. I am angry that he made my brother sad though. There's nothing left for him in Yeongdeungpo so Donald should just stay here in Gangnam. I'm sure Mom would let him stay with us since he's mine and Gray's friend,'

He knew that if Donald still went the same path as Silver's past life, he'd become a problem for Gray and his future friends. He didn't know if Donald would still consider Gray to be a friend if he were to create the Union. He had seen how much trouble the Gray Yeon of his own universe had suffered due to the Union and Silver didn't want that to happen to his brother in this universe.

After a month, Gray no longer believed that Donald was ever going to reach out to them. Rather than dwelling on the past, he decided to focus on the present and buried himself in his studies. Silver decided to go and confront Donald directly instead. He took the bus to Yeongdeungpo and located the abandoned building he had stayed in prior to forming the Union in his own world.

"Donald," Silver addressed as he approached the older boy.

"Silver?" Donald questioned. "Why are you here? How did you find me?"

"You no longer attend school so you no longer get money from your work-study program," Silver pointed out. "It'd be impossible for you to afford rent and you're too young for any legal jobs. I just looked for abandoned buildings near your former apartment,"

"I never once told you where I lived,"

"Auntie told me it before," Silver smoothly lied. "Why didn't you try to contact me and Gray?"

"I had thought a perfect order was society," Donald said. "I had thought adults were perfect humans. What I learned was the only thing that was whole was human greed. Human beings live in greed. I'm not going to let myself get caught up in this rotten cycle of unfairness. Instead, I will utilize everything I have to climb higher in the hierarchy,"

"You know, even though you're half my age and we've both led very different lives, somehow I can see myself in you," Donald held a hand out to Silver. "I'm currently in the starting stages, but my empire will eventually rise and tower over everyone. Join me, Silver Yeon,"

"That Union you're dreaming of is doomed to fail," Silver warned as he left and started to head home. 'Does this mean that even if I had met Gray when I was younger, I was doomed to go down this cruel path? Or is it only because it's this world's Donald Na specifically? Similarly how a major difference in this world is the existence of Silver Yeon, is this world's Donald's personality slightly different from my own?'
