[Kunar Province, Afghanistan]

3rd Person POV

In the heart of the Kunar Province's desert in Afghanistan, their jeep rumbled across the rugged terrain, accompanied by the blaring notes of AC/DC's "Back in Black" emanating from the speakers.

Tony clinked his glass of whiskey against the ice, casting an odd sense of discomfort over the parched surroundings.

Seated in the middle, (Y/N) found herself anxiously fiddling with her fingers. Tony exchanged a glance with the soldier positioned beside his daughter, a look the soldier quickly evaded.

"I feel like you're driving me to a court-martial. This is crazy. What did I do?" Tony inquired, his drink swaying in his hand as he tried to comprehend the situation.

(Y/N) had finished her drink earlier, a necessity considering the speed of their journey.

"I feel like you're going to pull over and snuff me," Tony continued, his tone laced with a hint of amusement.

"What, you're not allowed to talk?" Tony directed this question to the soldier beside (Y/N). "Hey, Forrest!"

"We can talk, sir," the soldier replied, to which Tony responded in his usual charismatic manner, "Oh, I see. So it's personal?"

"No, you intimidate them."

He then turned his attention to the woman at the wheel, revealing his surprise, "Good God, you're a woman. I honestly... I couldn't have called that. I mean, I'd apologize, but isn't that what we're going for here? I thought of you as a soldier first."

The soldier occupying the passenger seat swivelled around, a broad grin adorning his face. "I'm an airman," the woman driving the jeep replied, her tone casual.

Tony Stark, always the charmer, didn't miss a beat. "Well, you have excellent bone structure, there. I'm kind of having a hard time not looking at you now. Is that weird?" His comment elicited laughter from everyone in the jeep, and (Y/N) couldn't help but join in with a light chuckle. Her father had his moments of humour.

"Come on, it's okay, laugh. HEY!" Tony exclaimed enthusiastically.

"Sir, I have a question to ask?" the soldier in the front asked Tony as (Y/N) shifted in her seat to get more comfortable.

"Miss, are you okay?" the soldier next to her inquired.

"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm just trying to get comfortable. My jacket got stuck, that's why," she explained, offering a smile to the soldier. He nodded and helped her adjust her jacket, while Tony and the other soldier continued their conversation.

"Thank you!" (Y/N) expressed her gratitude to the soldier.

"You're welcome, Miss (Y/N)," he replied politely. Then, turning back to Tony, he raised his hand. "You're kidding me with the hand up, right?"

"Is it cool if I take a picture with you and your daughter?"The sweet soldier asked Tony. "Yes, It's very cool," Tony replied. "Sure thing!" (Y/N) replied with her usual sweet voice.

The soldier took out his camera and handed it to the soldier sitting in the passenger seat. "All right." The passenger seat soldier said. "I don't want to see this on your MySpace page," Tony said as he scooted closer to the soldier with (y/n) in the middle. The soldier put up a peace sign. "Please, no gang signs," Tony said as the soldier put his hand down. "No, throw it up. I'm kidding." Tony said as the soldier put his hand back up and made a peace sign. (Y/N) also did the same and smiled her usual bright smile. "Yeah, peace, I love peace. I'd be out of a job with peace." Tony said.

"C'mon, hurry up. Just click it. Don't change the settings. Just click it," the soldier urged.

Just as he said that the jeep in front of theirs exploded as if it was targeted by something or someone, causing screams to erupt.

Tony quickly grabbed (Y/N) and shielded her under his arm to keep her safe. "What's going on?" Tony asked the soldiers.

"CONTACT LEFT!" the female soldier yelled out. "What have we got?" Tony inquired again. As soon as the female soldier exited the jeep, she was shot and fell immediately.

"Jimmy, stay with the Starks!" the soldier in the passenger seat instructed the soldier next to (Y/N). "STAY DOWN!" Jimmy urged as he gently pushed the Starks down into their seats for cover.

Tony replied with a quick "yeah" before taking cover with (Y/N). (Y/N) felt as if she was about to pass out any minute. "Dad... what the fuck is going on?" she asked her father, who was trying to make sense of the situation.

Shortly after, the soldier who had left after the female soldier also got shot. "What's going on?!" (Y/N) asked the remaining soldier, who didn't respond. "Son of a bitch!" The soldier cursed before exiting the jeep. "Wait, wait, wait! Where are you going?!" (Y/N) urgently questioned the departing soldier.

"Wait, wait, wait! Give me the gun!" Tony requested from the soldier while still holding his daughter in his embrace to protect her.

The soldier closed the door behind them and instructed them to stay put before he too was shot. Bullets pierced through the jeep's windows and doors, narrowly missing (Y/N)'s face and cutting her cheek, causing her to hiss in pain.

Tony observed the situation and decided to exit the jeep. He firmly grasped (Y/N)'s wrist and led her out of the vehicle. Another explosion rocked the area, pushing the Starks back towards the jeep.

They dashed for cover behind some sizable rocks. (Y/N)'s heart raced; she feared this might be the end. Tony reached for his phone to make a call.

However, before he could, one of his missiles was fired nearby.

Tony pushed his daughter out of harm's way and urgently shouted, "RUN!!"

(Y/N) sprinted as fast as she could. The missile detonated, hurling Tony aside.

The blast's shockwave also sent (Y/N) tumbling, causing her to strike her head against a rock and lose consciousness.
