Lexi, after coming home took a shower to refresh herself. She couldn't stop herself from thinking about Jane because she seemed to remind her of someone but she couldn't figure it out. She decided to meet Jane again and took her mobile phone to send her a text. Surprisingly, Jane has already texted her.
"If you're available, let's meet tomorrow around noon". Seeing the text, Lexi smiled and replied back.
"Lexi! Dinner is ready", shouted her mom from the kitchen. She rushed downstairs to help her mother arrange the dishes on the table and they sat down to eat. The silent Lexi who never spoke a word when Tom is around started speaking for the first time, narrating everything that happened at the mall and even about the new friend she got. Though she was talking to her mom, Tom was happy to see her like that and was enjoying her story. Noticing this, Lexi looked at him for a second and smiled. She could tell he was on cloud nine but she acted like she didn't notice it.
While they were in their room, Tom kept on telling his wife, "Did you see earlier....our daughter smiled at me?" and was smiling from ear to ear. Lexi's mom looked at her husband with a smile on her face as she could feel the gap between Lexi and her stepdad finally getting reduced.
The next day,
After helping her mom with some household chores, Lexi left to meet her new friend, Jane. Once they met, they hugged each other and went to get coffee. Jane adjusted the baby pram and gave her baby a toy to play with. During their conversation, Jane told that she would be leaving within a week and they live in Texas. When Lexi asked, "Are you here to meet your parents?" made her remain silent for a while and she just replied that they were there for her husband's work. Lexi noticed that Jane avoided the question regarding her family. After talking for a while, Jane decided to leave but was stopped by Lexi who invited her for the wedding. "I want you to be there. Though we met yesterday, I feel like we've known each other for a long time. I will be waiting for you!" for which Jane assured her that she would try to make it and left.
