28. Please hold on

With the blood stained face resulting from getting beaten up by Lexi, the boss's assistant stood before her slamming the door open and holding it with force. Lexi wasn't aware that the phone's GPS was on. They found her location with that. Before Lexi could react, she was pulled out and his rage was evident in his grip. He tried to drag her out of the mall when suddenly he was thrown into the floor. There stood Andrew furious of what's happening to Lexi. He sat on him and started punching him. Soon the thugs involved and there was a big commotion with the crowd staring at them.

As soon as they heard the sirens, some of the thugs ran away while the assistant struggled to run. George and Jane also arrived at the spot. When he knew he couldn't escape, he pulled out the pistol and all that everyone heard was a loud gun shot.

Everyone froze as Andrew collapsed on the floor. He saved Lexi from being shot. She sat down near him holding his face and screaming his name asking him to get up. Soon the police arrested the assistant and took him under custody.

Andrew was taken inside the ambulance with  Lexi sobbing and asking him to hold on. "Please don't die", she repeated the words as she felt like she was losing her mind. "Why?why? Why?", she said sobbing and holding his arms tight.

Everyone waited outside the room where Andrew was given treatment. Jane consoled Lexi while George was feeling guilty for whatever has happened. His heart sank seeing his family members heart broken. Mr. Davila paced back and forth as he waited for the doctors to show up.

Lexi saw her mom and step dad walking towards them. She ran and hugged Tom leaving him and her mom in surprise. "I am sorry Dad!", she said making him froze hearing her calling him 'dad' for the first time ever. She cried in his arms as she realized his love and thinking about 'her love' who was in a critical condition. He hugged her and gently patted her back consoling her. "He will be alright. Don't worry", he said which gave Lexi some hope.

Her mom made her sit on the waiting bench. She looked at George and she knew how he was feeling. She walked towards him and looked at him. He couldn't look at her as he felt like he had done a great sin. "I don't know what was the story between you and the thugs. But I know one thing for sure. You are a good person. So please go and attend the trial tomorrow and testify against them", she said as she handed him the assistant's mobile phone. Looking at her kind gesture, all he could do was kneel down before her crying. "I'm sorry", he said. Lexi made him stand up and made him sit on the bench. Jane and George explained everything to their family and they assured George that it wasn't his fault. They added that no matter what they are going to support him.

Lexi also told about the whereabouts of the place where she was locked in as long as she could remember. "You will get justice", she said to him though her heart was aching thinking about her love Andrew.
