I know that I'm falling for you, Lexi....but I can't
admit it and I won't! The fear of losing you is slowly engulfing me. May be I don't deserve to be loved. I don't want to hurt you. I don't want you to be trapped in this relationship forever. You deserve someone better. I am sorry I never treated you the way you should be treated. Lemme wait for the right time to tell you that you'll be free from me. I shall arrange for the papers soon. Let's end this.
Andrew thought to himself while caressing her cheek. While doing so, Lexi held his hand and pulled it closer to her. Andrew was startled but was relieved to see that she was still sleeping. He looked at her for a while and slowly pulled his hand from hers and went to bed.

"George!" The voice of Jane made him turn back to look at her. "Yes, babe", he replied back. "How is your work going? You said you had to finish something" Jane's question made him think of the night he went to meet someone. It was none other than his friend who was now a police officer. "Yo man! Happy to see you! Long time...haan!", Alex jumped in excitement to see his friend. They hugged each other and Alex patted on his shoulder. "How are you? How is your family? I thought I won't be able to see you again. How is your new place? How it feels to live as a family man? Did you miss here? Did you miss me? Why didn't get in touch with me all these days?" he shot George with questions. "Wait wait. I am not a prisoner. Why are you shooting me with your questions?" he laughed. "If you aren't answering them, I'm sure I'm going to lock you up" Alex teased him. "Yeah Alex! I want you to do that but to someone else", George said.

"Wait! What? You...still not over that!", said Alex. "I was! Though I wanted my revenge so badly I was concerned about my family. So I moved far away. But now he knows I am back here. He knows I have all those files which would turn against him. Even if I give them back, he is not going to sit and watch me go. He would do something to harm me and my family. He would be a threat forever. I want him to be punished for all he did and was doing", George said.

"You sure?! If you are, I will help you", said Alex placing his hand on his friend's shoulder. He smiled at Alex and took something out from his pocket. He handed him the pendrive and Alex assured him that he would help him.

"George! George!", Jane's voice shook him out of his thoughts. "Yes honey! Everything is good so far", saying this he planted a kiss on her cheek. "Hmm humm", Andrew cleared his throat to signal them that he is around which made Lexi smile who is following him. "Good morning", he said and they greeted him back.
They sat for breakfast and once they finished they had a guest. It was Lexi's parents. Lexi ran to hug her mother and was so happy to see her. She looked at Tom and just greeted him with a small smile. She was talking so much to her mom and not to her dad. Andrew noticed this and was wondering the whole time why she wasn't close to her dad.

Tom learnt from Andrew that his dad has gone for a business trip. "Your dad is always busy!" Tom said to Andrew and he nodded. They both went for a walk in the garden. "How is Lexi doing? Andrew! Is she settled?" Tom's question made him stop walking for a second and he continued again. "Yeah! She is!" He kept his answer short. He thought for a while whether to ask Tom or not and he finally spilled his question "Why doesn't Lexi seem close to you?"

Tom looked at Andrew and said, "I'm her stepdad" which made Andrew regret his question. He stood still after hearing Tom. He explained everything to Andrew. Andrew could feel that Tom's love for Lexi was genuine and he cares about her like a real dad. He apologized to Tom for asking that but Tom patted his shoulder and said, "please take good care of my daughter". Hearing this, Andrew felt emotional and hugged him. He has always thought that Lexi had a perfect family but wasn't aware of her pain of her father's loss. He realized that Lexi who listened to his sad past was someone who wished to be listened about her own pain which she never displayed.

Calm faces hold a huge storm inside them.
