I was sat with my back against the tree we all had started to frequent. Maybe not to live in the past but rather just a meeting point to be all together. I had a book in my lap and my knees tucked in to help prop it up. Armin was a few feet out in front of us with his arms behind his head as he laid in the grass looking up to the sky. Birds were flying overhead as they were coming down south for the winter which was due in a months time. Mikasa was resting next to me and she had dozed off some time ago.

We got tired of seeing her come out here alone so we had started to come out here with her. It was getting cool out so it was nice, but still not too cold. It was weird to use this old battle ground as a hang out spot but they had built homes here and we resided right where this all had ended. I closed my book and looked at her face and she looked calm. She wasn't wearing it but her red scarf was in her lap as she gripped it tightly in her hand.

I slowly got up and walked over to Armin and he looked like he too had dozed off. Though as I neared closer he opened his eyes as my shadow casted over him. He extended out an arm for me and I laid next to him and rested my head on his arm. We laid in silence for a while and I even felt my own eyes getting heavy. I heard a loud huff from Armin and I turned to see him looking down at me.

"What?" I asked him.

"How long are you going to wait to tell us about that rock on your finger?" He asked looking down at my hand.

"I was going to tell everyone at dinner tonight since you all were coming over." I said smiling. "Since when do you pay attention?"

"Since Levi told me he was going to ask you." Armin said with a chuckle.

"He told you?" I asked.

"Of course he told me. He asked for my permission." Armin said as if that was obvious.

"And you said yes?" I asked in disbelief.

"Of course I said yes." He said with a sigh. "He's a good guy, despite the hard time I give you."

"I love him. A lot." I said with a sigh of relief.

"He loves you a lot." Armin said softly.

"What about you and Annie?" I asked him looking up to see his reaction. A small smile formed but maybe not one as large as I was hoping for.

"One step at a time. I've got problems, she's got problems. One thing at a time." He said and I just softly smiled back.

"Fair enough." I said which was probably for the best.

"This isn't too bad you know? Maybe not how I would have planned it but it's not too bad." I said with a sigh as I looked back up to the sky.

"Yeah?" He asked me.

"Yeah." He said pulling me in closer. "We're going to be alright."

"I think so too." I said smiling up at the sky watching nothing but the clouds and birds pass by.
