It wasn't often that I absolutely had to go into work with either Jay or Will, I did sometimes but that's because we chose to not because we didn't have any other choice, but during the school holidays it was difficult to find someone to babysit because even though I'm off school Will and Jays work isn't like that.
So today I stayed at Jays work, well for half the day until we had to leave much to my dismay.
We were in the car and had driven to the district and just about pulled up
Jay came to my door and said
"Come on out you get" he said to me with a smile and gestured with his hand
I slowly and glumly made my way out of the car, he shut the door behind me and rubbed the top of my head messing up my hair
"Cheer up, you still have a few hours till we have to go" he said
But I just kept the same face and walked up the stairs not even giving Trudy my usual 'good morning' when I see her. Jay just mouthed that I'm having a bad day to her and Trudy seemed to understand and nodded.
As we got upstairs I sat on the chair beside Jays by his desk with a sulked look on my face while looking down.
Jay eventually came and sat down next to me and that's when Kevin asked me
"What's wrong little one" he said trying to get my attention
"Nothing" i said ever so quietly not making any attempts of looking up
Soon after Hank made his way out of the office poking his head out
"Halstead" he said simply
"Yeah sarge?" Jay turned to him from his laptop
"Your clocking out early today right?" He asked making sure
"Yeah that's right" he confirmed
"Alright thanks just making sure" he asks making his way back into his office
"No worries sarge" Jay replied
"You clocking out early Halstead?" Antonio stepped in and asked more asking why by his tone
"Yeah this one's got an appointment and there no one else to take her" Jay said pointing at me
"You not feeling well Care?" Hailey asked
"I'm perfectly fine I think someone just needs to tell Jay that" I said
"Oh is that right?" Hailey said not quite sure what to say trying not to laugh at her sass
Jay let out a slight laugh "I'm taking her to get an allergy test and she doesn't think she needs it"
"I don't" I interjected
"her school wants an update aswell on her allergies and we don't know em" Jay passed off what she said and continued
"Still don't need it" she repeated herself
"If you say so" Jay replied
"So I don't have to go?" I asked hopefully
"No you still have to go" he said back "but you can think what you what" he shot her a half smile
"This is such bull crap" she said as she jumped off her chair making her way to the break room
Usually Jay would scolded her for swearing but it was kinda funny hearing an 8 year old try to swear when it wasn't even right so no point in telling her off for swearing wrong "I don't think that's the right word Care" he chuckled a little shaking his head
